Bill SB1976 was just proposed in Oklahoma. Bill Title: Crimes and punishments; obscenity and child pornography. Sounds good, right? Child Pornography is horrific. A closer look shows that's not all they are talking about here. They discuss obscenity non related to children and "unlawful pornography". Now, they do make an allowance that you can send nudes to a spouse.

You can get up to 20 years for viewing any pornography noted in the 2nd photo.

You can see the Bill and download the full Bill Link

Oklahoma also recently released an abortion ban as well.

Thoughts? Pushing towards that theocratic nation Gen Mike Flynn and others are seeking?

ETA: I'm going to do some snow shoveling. Talk amongst yourselves, I'll be back.

It is really sad that our society is so depraved these days that someone has to make a law like this.

Pornography exploits people for money and sitting around masturbating all day is not good for a person's mental health.

If anyone is offended by this proposed law they should really reflect on what changes they need to make in life.

Has there ever been a person who became a better person from looking at pornography in any form? That is what we should all strive toward, to become better to other people and to improve who we are each day.

"Puritanism; The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.” H.L. Mencken

Christian Dominionism: Dominion theology, also known as dominionism, is a group of Christian political ideologies that seek to institute a nation governed by Christians and based on their understandings of biblical law.

You're always going to have a few of these folks around, just as we've always had some socialist communists in our midst. Fortunately, the Dominionists are a tiny group, and the chances of getting the average Christian to go along with their insanity is near nil. It has been tried and failed miserably as early as Boston in 1630's by the Puritans.

Granted, we've had some puritanistic laws in this country since then, like prohibition, blue laws, some laws on pornography, and some others, but they've been a far cry from a theocracy.

Right now, the religious far left resembles a theocracy more than any Christian sect.

No one HAS to make a law like this.

Pornography exploits people for money and sitting around masturbating all day is not good for a person's mental health.

We have laws that regulate exploitation in the industry. They aren't perfect, but better than they were decades ago.
As to the rest of your statement, that is a choice for the adult individual to make. Smoking and drinking to excess aren't good for you either, but at the moment there are no laws to put you in prison for overindulging in either unless you harm someone else in the process.

If anyone is offended by this proposed law they should really reflect on what changes they need to make in life.

I am offended by it. It's repugnant. Anyone with half a brain should want to protect kids from this stuff, as well as drag queen story hour and gender affirming mutilation, but if you're an adult, it's none of my business how much adult porn you look at. Knock yourself out.

Has there ever been a person who became a better person from looking at pornography in any form?

Has there ever been a person who became a better person from being a busybody in other peoples affairs that didn't concern them?

It seems that people who are offended by this law may want to seek counseling for porn addiction.

Does porn make a person better or does it create a warped view of the male/female relationship, create unhealthy expectations around sex, and harm the users relationship with reality?

The time wasted viewing porn could be used to improve one's self and/or contribute to someone else's betterment and/or make love to the person you in a relationship with.

Also, people are exploited in the process of making porn. They may not realize it, but they are.

That is avoidable. You simply don't view or transmit porn. Should be easy to do for non-depraved, rational, mentally healthy people.

20 years for fellatio or cunnilingus???!!!

Where they are going, that's a lot of time to practice/perfect the act.

Tough state.

I mean the sexual activity with an animal crime is understandable time-wise.

But Oklahoma should probably stick to musicals.

I wonder what people here will say when adultery is punishable by jail time. Or divorce is not an option. Or perhaps jail time for unwed mothers.

You guys always talk about "give an inch, take a mile" when it comes to guns, but hey, let's let them control everything else.

Hypocrites.

And incidentally, it's really creepy how some people can't stop thinking about what others do in the privacy of their homes. It's weird. Not normal.

My apologies. I didn't realize I am indeed talking to a Puritan.

Adultery is illegal according to the UCMJ.

I am certainly no puritan. I just think it is respectful to whoever i am in a relationship with to keep my sexual thought to them. Now what me and misses do in bed is not exactly puritanical..

For those who are alone, i am going to say that if you cannot masturbate without porn then you are addicted to it.

I feel pity for you. You have been trapped in one of the many snares in life. However, it is sad that you have done it so much that you think this is normal, healthy behavior.,

But the good news is there is help if you seek it. Find a good counselor.

You can get up to 20 years IF it involves a child. That's along with several other penalties.

The very last section is an amendment that makes that clear, if you'd like to actually read it.

The rest is probably consistent with their existing obscenities laws, which many states have and rarely enforce.

I don't seem to recall the left having much trouble with censorship over the past three years, nor the gross violations of individual right to expression currently subject to litigation in Missouri v Biden.

Seems rather hypocritical.

What about on porn, or in porn?

Is that healthy enough or also frowned upon?

The good news is whatever or however other people choose to masturbate is really none of your concern.

Unless of course, that is what you are into which i suppose would equate to voyeurism of a sorts.

That part makes perfect sense.

Especially so if it can be proven in a court of law.
