Wow that's extremely stupid....
Ya know that extremely awesome road side Jumpstart kit you should have in your vehicle?
Does that have a combustion engine or a battery?
Stupid stupid stupid argument.

😀 wheewwwwwww

The problem is, you are completely ignoring all that goes into building a EV. Not to mention what gas will be used to power those EV, Since there will be a massive increase in the power grid.

"Sulfur_hexafluoride, SF 6 has 23,500 times greater global warming potential (GWP) than CO2 as a greenhouse gas but exists in relatively minor concentrations in the atmosphere."

Oh but not for long.

Its concentration in Earth's troposphere reached 11.02 parts per trillion (ppt) in 2022, rising at 0.37 ppt/year.[8] The increase since 1980 is driven in large part by the expanding electric power sector, including fugitive emissions from banks of SF 6 gas contained in its medium- and high-voltage switchgear. Uses in magnesium, aluminium, and electronics manufacturing also hastened atmospheric growth

I forgot to add this.

By 2000, the electrical power industry is estimated to use about 80% of the sulfur hexafluoride produced, mostly as a gaseous dielectric medium.[14] Other main uses as of 2015 included a silicon etchant for semiconductor manufacturing, and an inert gas for the casting of magnesium.[15]

The world can not be saved with batteries. I would like to see batteries replace this engine.

That's the crank shaft from a container ship. That's the kind of engines used to get all those batteries and pretty much else to the USA today.

On average, a cargo ship can burn through 20 to 70 tons of fuel per day and up to 400 tons per day, depending on its size and speed. That’s equivalent to the amount of fuel used by approximately 1,000 cars in a single day.

Dude I know about the energy expenses that go into the production and I am not going to say it isn't high. But it's the same if not lower than what already being done.
If we don't push for the innovation then how will the technology have a need for development?
The greater the push the more the demand.

And wow I never realized how large a crankshaft for a shipping vessel would be!
That is some very impressive metal work.

I'm always proud of you dude.
I'm just disappointed right now. You're smarter than you're putting on today. And that's ok.

If only I could come up with facts like you can.......maybe one day.

The batteries can also be volatile.

Yeah, maybe a little!

Nope, F that, but they’re perfectly safe and ready for prime time they say, thx but no thx. Imagine that in your house with your kids sleeping in a room above the garage😳

This was a week ago

These explosions are no joke

This from a month ago 2 houses on fire 1 completely destroyed.

I know where they can put their EV’s😡😁

Ok ya got me there....fart on the damn thing a bunch and hug it I guess while we wait....maybe like 6months to a year till this problem is feasibly solved without the use of some reactor?
Fallout come to mind but those tree huggers may have something to say about that.

The UK can be used as a good example of how not to do things - because of unique climate and geogpraphy we can provide enough electricity to meet our demands from wind and tidal power alone - we have the wind turbines/barrages in place but the problem is our core electricity grid is too victorian to send supply to demand.

When wind turbines are generating too much electricity for the grid, they're paid to shut down and coal/gas plants powered up instead as succesive gvernments have failed to update the grid since victorian times.

Until the grid is updated to modern standards (HVDC) we're stuck in the bottleneck.

www.foxbusiness.com...

Charging stations have essentially turned into car graveyards in recent days as temperatures have dropped to the negative double digits, Fox Chicago reported.

"Nothing. No juice. Still on zero percent," Tyler Beard, who had been trying to recharge his Tesla at an Oak Brook, Illinois Tesla supercharging station since Sunday afternoon, told the news outlet. "And this is like three hours being out here after being out here three hours yesterday."

For those with critical thought ability, EV's are brand new in the big picture. They have issues that must be worked out. Perhaps they can overcome some of them, perhaps not.

But the weight of the vehicle is not a today issue, but a tomorrow one. If we ever get to 50% EV ownership in the US, most of that will be consolidated to the cities. Places were shorter commutes exist. And parking garages were engineered for cars that weigh what an ICE car weighs. Not for what an EV weighs. So unless collapsing parking garages are the envy of all cities, some planning will be needed, IF EV's become more prevalent.

The cold zapping the energy from the batteries is another issue. People know their new Tesla can go 230 miles on a charge. Do it every day. Until the polar vortex comes. Then your Tesla can only go 190 miles. Did you factor that in? If not, pack a lunch, it can get cold and lonely waiting for an ICE generator to be hauled to you in order to charge your EV, or to be towed to a charger.

This is not to say the technology is failed, only that it's not ready for everyone to have one just yet. Even the slow kids can get this.

That isn't true. You can not do more heavy mining, refining, manufacturing and so on, with fossil fuels. And expect the end result to use less energy. Especially if your using fossil fuels to do that mining, refining and manufacturing.

Basically the argument is. Fossil fuels can save us from fossil fuels. The only way is to find a cleaner fuel source, hydrogen maybe. If you can use hydrogen to power the massive machinery necessary to mine, refine, and build, those EV'S. It might be worth it.

Anyone could post videos of tragic things with the other.
So try again and this time use some that are larger.
There are many more videos of engines going boom. I mean the word combustion is literally in the name bro!

To me the most obvious choice would be hydrogen as it's plentiful and for the most part safe.
Unfortunately the push for that is not as hard. I think it will increase here soon solely because of the push back towards other alternatives.
In hindsight this push may be a good thing to get that ball rolling.

And yet, as you were told, the combustion part has nothing to do with most vehicle fires. Come on bro, think McFly!

I'm pretty sure there is no way to know the cause of most vehicle fires as the majority of vehicles are not owned by people that live in a country that has the resources to accurately report let alone respond and investigate the cause.

Okay, why don’t you post all those vids of ICE’s spontaneously combusting, I want to see, I’ll wait. I know I can post hundreds of EV’s catching on fire, they’re all over YouTube. So yeah post them vids of ICE vehicles just sitting and blowing up, remember electrical fires don’t count because that could happen on a EV also, please post them so you can prove your point and convince us all that you’re right. We all want to see them.
