I find this extremely comical.
The fools that think electric vehicles will ever take over for internal combustion vehicles, here is why it will never, ever happen.

Cold kills batteries, even small batteries that are in gas vehicles.
When the battery is 20 times the size, it’s even worse.

If they only parked them in indoor heated garages this would not be a problem. Oh, wait. That would take even more electricity to heat the garages.

Electric vehicles are not a bad idea in some uses but they are a terrible idea for all uses.

They are also no where near green.

More polluting than a diesel truck.

People around here in the U.P of Michigan have some electric cars, they don't use them in the winter much. I saw some out this winter because it was over thirty degrees quite a few days till we got this last storm that dumped about twenty eight to thirty of snow on the ground here, lots of drifting too. Now it is below zero, they are worthless at twenty degrees F let alone in Below Zero degrees F. If you have a garage that is heated by a gas heater to keep your car in, no problem as long as it does not sit at work outside all day long. Keeping that garage heated doesn't seem like it is energy conscious though, so I don't know why they think they are going to save the environment. Also, they seem to be way heavier and that means extra stopping distance on ice covered roads...not a good thing either.

The batteries can also be volatile. There have been two electric buses, one was a hybrid that have caught fire on route in England in the last two weeks.
A guy I work with had a Nissan Leaf.He sold it at a massive loss because it was costing twice the price of diesel to get to work.Diesiel £5 a day, electric £10 after electric prices went up in the UK.

Why don't they recharge as the wheels turn? Too simple?

Haha there ya go again not thinking about all the different tech in the works to overcome this problem.
To say never ever is pretty naive.
Of course big business that sucks on the tit of big oil is going to lobby FOX and most others to make it seem like it's a pipe dream.
All those buzz words got you not thinking again.
Best of luck with that

That is called putting on the brakes. It only works for stopping and going down hill.

You can’t recognize a complete failure when it’s right in front of you? EV’s are a joke.

They do, to an extent.

It's called "Regenerative Braking"

Which is why there is such a push to develop and market "Solid-state Batteries", which do not freeze in the cold, do not suffer loss of power in freezing temperatures, and can be fully recharged, in some designs, in as little as 10 minutes. They are also not as volatile as the current "wet cell" batteries in use.

If they're not freezing up they're catching on fire.
Sounds like a good and honest commercial for EVs.

Well, the tesla shares sure make you wanna smile, it's a great joke...

Are you laughing too?

Failure, nah, more like huge potential in its infancy battling against a lobby that is waging wars for their profit... So yeah... The Jokes on the internal combustion Engine, me thinks.

They are regenerating. But not nearly enough to charge you.

I wonder how much battery power could be removed if all the mod-cons were removed along with the option to drive faster than a speed limit.

Air conditioning and heating.
Autopilots, satnav, telephone, stereo, DVD, and digital screens.
Endless circuitry, supplementary motors and black boxes of bits for electric sunroof, mirrors, seats etc.

What we have here is a case of entitlements and what those entitlements cost.

Anyone with a brain would know that hydrogen fuel cells are going to take the cake. Electric forklifts have been around since the twenties it's hardly new technology.

While its true newer battery tech solves many f these problems and big oil is unsustainable/have paid trillions in greenwashing bribes; EVs are more of a sticking plaster than solution.

What's needed is proper public transport services to massively increase efficiency and similar city designs to The Line in Saudi to significantly reduce emissions and bst sustainability - otherwise its the same congestion on the roads and 99% waste using 2000kg vehicles to transport a 70kg person.

Seeing as a smart phone takes almost no power to do almost all of the things you describe, without the motors that take no power when not actually moving, only the AC and heat would make any noticable difference. It is not about the gadget load. It is all the characteristics of a cold battery.

Also, battery quality going down.
