Israel didn't just attack Gaza. They retaliated after THEY were attacked by HAMAS. That is a fact and it is undisputed. Ignoring it won't change it.

That appears to be 100% correct. But and a big but at that is. You could retaliate against someone in a crowd that punches you once. By punching them 3 or 4 times. You could also retaliate against someone that punches you once in a crowd, with a WMD. There is retaliation and there is Razing.
The IDF has now said they expect the war to last all of 2024.

I'm not sure what you mean by end it. Neither side hands are clean. Both do things to provoke the other. You will never rid the world of terrorism, even if did do some kind of war crime.
Donald Rumsfeld during the last Iraq war, was rumored to have said. Are we killing them faster than we are making them. I think the answer to that question is absolute not.

So far I'm going to say this about the ANC government in SA ... you know if you live in a glass house, you really shouldn't be throwing rocks.
Adv Tembeka Ngcukaitobi defending Julius Malema in Parliament. Powers & Privileges Committee.
The intent to destroy Gaza has been nurtured at the highest level of state," Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, advocate of the High Court of South Africa, told the court. He said Israel's political and military leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, were among "the genocidal inciters".
Malema has been embroiled in a variety of legal issues throughout his political career: he has been convicted of hate speech twice, once in March 2010 for demeaning comments about Zuma's rape accuser, and again in September 2011 for singing "Dubul' ibhunu" ("Shoot the Boer"). In 2012, Malema was charged with fraud, money laundering and racketeering.
South African leaders met Hamas militants on official visits to their country after the deadly October 7 terrorist attack on Israel, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
A Hamas delegation visited South Africa in December, at a time when even Arab countries were distancing themselves from the terrorist group, which killed nearly 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped about 250 during the atrocity.
Israeli sources said the visit by Hamas leaders shows the 'cosy' relationship South Africa has had with the group over the years, which the sources say helps to explain why the ANC-led government decided to accuse Israel of genocide at the International Court of Justice last week. The Israeli government has rejected the claim, and has instead accused South Africa of becoming the 'legal arm of Hamas'.
Israeli minister Amichai Chikli has claimed that among the sitting South African delegation at the ICJ hearings at the Hague was Shawan Jabarin, a 'peace activist' accused of having ties with the terrorist group, the Popular Front For The Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

Senior Hamas officials joined Nelson Mandela's family as tributes to South Africa's first black president on the 10th anniversary of his death in the capital Pretoria on Tuesday, AFP journalists noted.
South Africa, a fervent supporter of the Palestinian cause, is one of the countries most critical of the massive and deadly Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, in retaliation for the bloody attacks carried out by Hamas in Israel on 7 October.
Nelson Mandela, who advocated "freedom for the Palestinians", died in 2013 at the age of 95. Leaders from around the world, including the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas, were present at his funeral, but Israeli leaders did not attend.
On Tuesday, the family of the anti-apartheid hero laid a wreath in front of the statue of him in front of government headquarters in Pretoria.
Basem Naim, former Health Minister for Hamas in Gaza, and Khaled Qaddoumi, representative of the Islamist movement in Iran, were present. In the preceding days, they had also taken part in a conference on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict organised by Nelson Mandela's grandson, Mandla Mandela, in Johannesburg.

And the reason for their visit in early December ?
With so many international organizations being antisemitic these days, it’s a little surprising when one actually takes the side of Israel.
But that’s essentially what happened today when the International Court of Justice refused to order Israel to halt its war in Gaza to exterminate Hamas because South Africa could not make its case. Not that it matters because the ICJ doesn’t have jurisdiction over the state of Israel.
But it’s nonetheless a victory for Israel.
