Embattled Harvard University President Claudine Gay has been slapped with additional charges of plagiarism.

The Washington Free Beacon reported Harvard "received a complaint outlining over 40 allegations of plagiarism" against Gay on Tuesday, noting a letter was sent to Harvard's research integrity officer, Stacey Springs, outlining the claims.

"The document paints a picture of a pattern of misconduct more extensive than has been previously reported and puts the Harvard Corporation, the university's governing body — which said it initiated an ‘independent review’ of Gay's scholarship and issued a statement of support for her leadership — back in the spotlight," Free Beacon reporter Aaron Sibarium wrote.

If this is allowed to stand, then every case where anyone was sued for plagiarism should be reversed and thrown out. As long as the guilty person is willing to use proper citations.

I wonder if the school allows students to go back and correct their papers if they are ever cited for this infringement?

The older I get the less I respect the opinions of Academia™. Obviously not all of them, there are many who still maintain the integrity of empirical research. But I was interviewing this professor at Penn who had the humility to say that over half of the published research is just flat out wrong at best, and severely mis-leading at worst.

I think Ms Gay may run into problems with the actual professor's she is standing on the shoulders of. These seem for the most part minorities also. They have a an issue with their work being trivialized and rightfully so. Will Harvard standby her in the face of criticism from these fellow minorities? It could cost them their credibility with other institutions and for what? A lazy and entitled "professor" that has cheapened the meaning of being accredited!

Maybe they will not mind if they truly believe it “takes a village” and “you did not build that”. As long as it for the “state”.

Didn't Melania take, word for word, a part of a speech Michelle Obama made.

Yes, she did. So let's start with her.

Maybe she used the same speech writer.

Close. One paragraph was obviously taken from Michelle Obama's speech.
Her speech writer shouldn't have done that.

2008, Michelle Obama:

And Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them. And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation. Because we want our children — and all children in this nation — to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.

2016, Melania Trump
From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life: that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise; that you treat people with respect. They taught and showed me values and morals in their daily life. That is a lesson that I continue to pass along to our son, and we need to pass those lessons on to the many generation to follow because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.

Thanks for connecting the dots. Politicians are like Hollywood actors, get paid big bucks to read other people’s writing.

Except they are the ones bringing it to light! In that field your researchs integrity is king and hers has fell short. Hence why the people she stole from, yes she stole their work, are bringing it to light. Notice here we have to accredit our sources from quotes? That was done to limit any kind of lawsuits brought up by not citing sources. The bar for a thesis is supposed to be even higher. ATS is showing more integrity on citations than Harvard is, think on that.

I wasn't aware plagiarism ever was a crime. If so, when do they indict Biden?

They had the lady that was plagiarized by Claudine Gay on Hannity. She wasn’t very happy about the situation.

Melania wasn't pretending to be an academic on her own merits, but stealing others work to get there.

And it was her speech writer, not her.

She didn't profit from it. 😀

Ms. Gay has, big time.

Whatever penalty exists for plagiarizing should be levied on her as well, and if she can show it was her speech writer, it's on him/her. Now that is taken care of, Ms. Gay seems to have made the same infraction. Should she be held to the same scrutiny, or is she (D)ifferent somehow?
