Hunter Biden is facing intense backlash after holding a Capitol Hill press conference on Wednesday in which he refused to sit for a deposition before Congress, and declared his father, President Biden, was never "financially involved" in his business dealings.

Calls to hold Hunter in contempt of Congress began almost immediately following the end of the press conference, while other critics pointed to the claims concerning his father's relationship to his business dealings as "goalpost shifting."

"They belittled my recovery, and they have tried to dehumanize me, all to embarrass my father, who has devoted his entire life to public service," Hunter said. "For six years I have been a target of the unrelenting Trump attack team. ‘Where’s Hunter?’ Well, here’s my answer. I am here."

He added that "my father was not financially involved in my business," saying the elder Biden was not involved in his dealings with Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings, or his Chinese investments and others in the United States.

So Hunter told Comer to pound sand. It will be interesting to see if the DOJ treats everyone equal, or if some people are "more equal". It's also interesting to notice that the narrative have changed, and now Joe was not "financially involved", which is quite a far cry from where that lie started.

Who knows where this will end up, but it's getting a little warm in DC. Should Hunter be allowed to ignore this? If so, why wasn't Steve Bannon? Both just ordinary citizens, neither holds public office. Time will tell.

Yep, and as I said over there, I bet this changes just like Joes' story about Hunter's business.

Hunter says MAGA is out to get him.

At least he realizes he is the antithesis of what makes America great.

Ole Joe should have had the DOJ right there at the press conference to put the kid in handcuffs and protect his head as they stuffed him in the car and drove him off to jail.

Didn't Jim Jordan do the same thing? If he did, where do you think Hunter Biden got the idea it was acceptable? Or is Jim Jordan above the law?

DOJ protocol states they will not enforce any subpoenas associated with impeachment hearings until a full floor vote is taken authorizing an official impeachment inquiry.

But since we're on the topic of "more equal," when is Jim Jordan going to be charged for ignoring his own subpoena?

to answer the three of you, Biden's DOJ has total control. They set the standard when they arrested Steve Bannon. When you do something like that, but you don't on someone (D)ifferent, it almost looks like a partisan hack job. If that's the way Joe DOJ wishes to appear, then they are doing a fantastic job so far.

You three are aware that Steve Bannon was arrested for contempt of congress, right?

Bannon's subpoena was not part of an impeachment investigation. The rule in question was created by Trump's DOJ. So blame them for creating a rule that was designed to protect Trump and his cohorts.

Looks like the House may finally take a vote on the inquiry today:

House preps for a key vote on Biden impeachment inquiry as Republicans unite behind investigation

This would make the subpoena enforceable. Probably retroactively.

Until then, they cannot enforce this subpoena, which is why Hunter Biden probably pulled a Jim Jordan and didn't show when summoned.

The reason subpoenas are unenforceable is because a single member can't just show up for work and start issuing subpoenas. Think of the situation where MTG, or Pelosi, or anyone just said -- I will subpoena 10 people today because I want to.

They can't, they don't have that authority. But if a committee was formed, and approved and authorized with a vote of the House, then the committee gets subpoena powers.

Looking forward to seeing this vote today and how it goes.

Jim Jordan that defied a subpoena on the 1/6 insurrection that never really happened? That Jordan? Big difference between that and possibly exposing the most corrupt president in our lifetime. Not saying one is right and the other isn’t but you trump haters are deflecting apples to oranges.

The J6 committee was not a legit congressional committee and had no authority to enforce a subpoena.
