Trump asked an appeals court in Washington on Saturday night to toss a federal indictment accusing him of plotting to overturn the 2020 election, arguing that he was immune to the charges because they arose from actions he had taken while he was in the White House.

The weekend filing to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit was the latest salvo in a long-running and crucial battle between Mr. Trump and the special counsel, Jack Smith, over whether the former president enjoys immunity to the election interference charges.

As per the constitution, a president can be charged with crimes committed while in office by the judicial department AFTER an impeachment and CONVICTION by congress.

Without that...they got nothing.

The SC doesn't even have to address immunity.

I am going to get this off my chest and be done with it. To clarify my above post...

We have three branches of government......executive, judicial and legislative.

This is simply nothing other than the judicial branch trying to bypass the legislative branch and that won't fly. These questions are not questions to be answered by the supreme court or any court for that matter...these are questions that should be decided by the legislative branch, congress, through impeachment and a senate trial.

It's worked all these years, until people let their blind hatred over rule their common sense.

I still have some faith in the system, and someday people will see it for what it is...political persecution. Attempting to bypass the legislative branch through the judicial branch leaves me to arrive at no other logical conclusion.

The problem is, when corruption via a combined effort from members across all three branches and between all levels of government is the norm, it's no longer about the people the government was created to serve. In fact, I doubt anyone could point to ANY government agency, just one, and prove there is no corruption, no participation of political ideology protecting only one side of the isle etc. The level of corruption and dysfunction is systemic at this point and only getting more more so. It's not only a 'Western' issue, it's all across the world.
