The argument of the title is being used common enough to warrant a thread. The argument takes from a plea to a stronger military to pause combat for a duration, and presupposes that those supporting the plea to stop violence are siding with the initial attacker.

Is this sound logic to any degree? Yes, it can be sound logic to a very small degree, but the only angle I can conjure relies on the fact that the person who supports a ceasefire has already declared they support Hamas.

I have heard this argument many times, but I have yet to hear anyone declare they themselves do support Hamas.

This argument exactly follows the template for the fallacy of equivalence which argues that things are the same despite key differences.

The argument assumes a ceasefire supporter = Hamas supporter.

If I am a Hamas supporter because I support ceasefire, and everyone else supporting a ceasefire is a hamas supporter, does that mean we are responsible for what Hamas is doing, just for calling for ceasefire?

You're misinterpreting the argument. Calls for Israel to stop the genocide, when the casualty statistic are being fed by terrorists who STILL HAVE WOMEN AND CHILDREN NON COMBATANTS BEING HELD HOSTAGE, is literally supporting terror. End of story. No one anywhere is suggesting that women and children being killed by Israel is okay. They're not even claiming that. But, what option do you have when your enemies are cowards who kill your children in their beds and then go hide in hospitals? Additionally, I'd suggest supporting Palestinian leadership, or giving any credence whatsoever to any claim they make, is supporting terror as well.

I'd ask you what specifically makes you support a ceasefire and what you think that will accomplish. If you cite some made-up numbers that Hamas fed you, and don't believe that Hamas will kill more Israeli children next time they have the opportunity, then I'd call you an idiot. Couldn't agree more. It's hilariously astounding the mental capacity that apparently goes right out the window when Tik Tik tells these morons what to think. They spent all of 2020 talking about how they would punch a nazi, and could tie nearly every aspect of being a white male to oppression and their own various failures and poor life choices. I'm not sure why a pattern has not been uncovered regarding this conflict, yet. Every time Hamas commits to military offensive action and gets their # pushed in by Israel, a cease fire is immediately thrown on the table to stop the overwhelming military response against people launching rockets towards civilian housing districts. Not only that, but the clear negation of the fact that Hamas uses population centers to both engage the Israelis and conduct a retrograde back into their tunnels (under those same population centers) is strange to me.

A video surfaced just recently of a militant firing an RPG RIGHT OUTSIDE a hospital in Gaza, and the militant simply walks right back into the hospital nonchalantly. There's an article on it.

I fear the governing authority of Palestine (Hamas) has opened pandoras box. I feel the Israelis will not stop this time. At all. Until an acceptable level of degradation of enemy forces has been met. Again, that is a metric of their own measure. It'd be foolish to assume anything at this point in regards to any operation ending anytime soon in Gaza.

One thing I can't wrap my head around, though, is why didn't the Palestinians remove Hamas as a governing authority? They've had since 2005 to oust them. Mind boggling. The fact that those of the leftist persuasion are offering their critical support to Hamas in the west and Europe is just a clear-cut tragic comedy. These people would not be having a good time under Hamas.

Then again.. I saw a video of a guy in blac-bloc attire saying that Palestine needs to adopt more rights for transgendered individuals, and he was rushed by five or so pro-Palestinian demonstrators and chased off. It's just wild, and often confusing when talking about this 'critical support, orbit, haha.

What does 'From the River to the Sea, Palestinians will be free' really mean.

The Palestinian people being forced to live in an open air prison or also known as a concentration camp for 50 years is how this all started.

The 'critical support' folks are definitely hiding something nefarious.

I agree but a ceasefire will never be ordered because Netanyahu wants all Palestinians out of Gaza, then next comes the ethnic cleaning (genocide again?) of the West Bank, then on to Lebanon?. The U.S. is already offering Egypt financial aid to take the Palestinians living in tents at their borders and those marching from North to South Gaza. This is the endgame there will be no stopping Netanyahu's biblical war he says is sanctioned by God.
