what there are signs of artificial light near Proxima B?

There is nothing written found yet and the chanel is revel discovery so far it appeared pretty mainstream to me?

Channel info:

Kanalinfo This channel is all about exploring the universe and learning about the amazing things that science has to offer. We'll cover everything from the latest discoveries in technology, space exploration and to the most fascinating scientific phenomena.
Here are some of the things you can expect to see on our channel:

Space exploration: We'll update you on the latest missions to Mars, the Moon, and beyond. We'll also explore the history of space exploration and the people who made it possible.
Scientific phenomena: We'll deeply dive into some of the most amazing scientific phenomena, such as black holes, supernovae, and the Big Bang.
Science news: We'll keep you up-to-date on the latest scientific breakthroughs and discoveries. We'll also interview scientists and other experts to get their insights on the latest research.

Has someone heard about that somewhere else?

I thoroughly enjoy how, per the video, the two women are studying the signals of the lights with a microscope and notebook.

I hope you know what stock footage is? And this is not a big money documentary.

it is breaking discoveries. public service.

I hope you know what...... sarcasm is? That's the screen I happen to have to pause it on when my attorney walked over; when I looked back, that was the FIRST thing that came to mind.

It's like those videos/commercials you see of people trying to use a hammer on the lug nuts of a tire...... it just doesn't feng shui well, ya know?

On the subject, why don't we launch a probe in that general direction. It'll only take about a century or so to get there.

We can still keep looking at everything with the Webb in the mean time - we've already had to redo our math a few times based on it's findings and have found evidence of life on other planets.

What a time to be alive.

A interesting video, thanks for posting it. I've noticed a few of these poping up recently, and the idea that JWT could be able to detect artificial light from Proxima B is incredible.

So something I don't understand from that SA article.

It sounds like the flux difference they're describing is the difference between reflected light from a nearby star, and, self-generated light.

What I don't understand is why self-generated light "must" be from an artificial source. It would seem more likely that there is some kind of natural phenomenon at work vice light generated by another civilization.

Forgive my skepticism, but ever since science *finally* figured out there was huge popular interest in UFOs/aliens/etc. that wasn't "going away", the PR people for science decided it was clever to add the line "this might be aliens!" to every new discovery in the cosmos that appeared unusual at first glance.

Probably Aurora , almost certainly not city lights.

Starfield is more than just a game, it's a road map to the future!

We just need to perfect our engines and figure out how to star hop like blonde groupies and we'll be all set to visit these other goldilocks planets in no time.

The question I pose is this: if it took us until now to detect what we think are city-like lights on the surface of the planet, and if it is in fact an inhabited planet with only a several year light travel between us, does that mean they're evolving and growing at a similar pace as us?

Am I missing something here? Where are the photos of these lights?

I don't thinks it's Aurora (Northern Lights). Proxima B is tidally locked to its star, so one side is always facing the sun. That should preclude Aurora from being seen on the dark side of the planet.

We don't even know if Proxima B has an atmosphere yet , as Proxima Centauri is a fairly active Red Dwarf which is orbited by Proxima B in 11 or so days I think it's likely it doesn't or if it does it's not much of an atmosphere , not sure if it being tidally locked means it can't have Aurora if it has an atmosphere though.

It's out for over a year it appears, and you know only about it because I posted it on the best hidden corner of the internet.
I appreciate your scepticism but if it is 'big science getting in on the UFO dollar' ... they'd do a better marketing.

Scepticism is good but they say it has also a CO2 atmosphere. They might be still working on it, let's see where it goes.

If there were Aliens flying around things like the James Web or Space Station would be taken and studied .

They would not last long up there .
