We got a similar thing with Osama Bin Laden on 9/11. The people doing the 10/7 attack dressed and spoke like Hamas from what I can tell, not much. They retreated back to Gaza and hazy after that. With the generational hate going on, most likely a lot of troops where from the Hamas ranks.
The issue I have is with the leadership, who organized and ordered it. Why such a delayed response on the Israel side? No choppers on first breach? Not even any police after the shooing started. From some reports I am hearing 7 hours until a military response was in action. For this to occur in one of the most heavily defended boarders on the planet stinks bad, ugly bad.
Hamas proudly has taken credit for it. Hamas posts videos on social media showing their terrorists killing, they were wearing go-cams. There is no question about it. It was Hamas.

Do you know what happened at Dresden? Have you missed the calls to do that to Gaza? Everything is cut off, it's turning into a tent city. How many hostages have already been bombed?
Dresden was an important city for the Luftwaffe. With that city going through a massive bombing and fire storm is helped the Allies win air superiority. I don't see any such tactical advantage to do that to Gaza unless the aim is to stir up a greater regional conflict.

In order to avoid civilian casualties, Israel sends warning messages before attacking terrorist targets advising civilians to leave. Israel prefers to attack empty buildings used to manufacture rockets, even taking into consideration that the terrorists too will be warned and their lives spared.
Hamas, on the other hand, calls on civilians to come and to protect with their bodies the precise locations they expect Israel to attack. Since they know that Israel will usually strike from the air, they send the children to the roofs to prevent the air force from targeting that building.
During the course of the Israeli operation against terrorists in the Gaza Strip (March 2008), Hamas repeatedly called upon Palestinian civilians to gather near buildings where they feared that the IDF was about to launch air-strikes against Hamas targets hidden within.
