When Britain and France split up the area trans-Jordan was the Muslim Palistine state and Israel was the Jewish Palistine state. If you go way back..way way back there are maps of Palestine in northern Egypt, but it wasn't a state just an area of land the Romans or some other outside conquer named as an area.

The refugees in the West Bank and Gaza are the same people, the same religion, the same culture, the same blood as Jordanians, many are also Egyptian. The Brits and French picked out a powerful tribal leader and basically gave that family the country and they pushed out those they did not want, that is why we have refugees today. Jordan ran the West Bank and Egypt ran Gaza until both just dumped all those issues onto Israel.
