And the thing is, it's not God commanding their deaths but man generally under the guise and orchestration of organised religious practice in all its many guises.

Leaders don't necessarily need to be of the religious sort to use religion as a mechanism and means to an end so as to accomplish their aims and agendas thus gain power and control.

I believe that it’s ideologies, in general, that are the cause of conflict, of which, religion is a sub group.

If we were to get rid of religion it will be replaced by some other secular ideology.

Then there’s the quest for power, racial and cultural supremacy, and greed which shouldn’t be overlooked.

Yep, then we made “rules of war” after some pretty bad behaviour on both sides in two particularly gruesome wars.

We looked back in shame and realized we didn’t have restraint.

Because the Messiah has not come and the Jewish mission of creating a dwelling for the Divine Presence on earth has not been achieved. Israel is a secular state of the Jews not a “Jewish state” and has, therefore, not actually achieved its true mission. Orthodox Jewish Zionism is quite different in nature to secular Zionism. For secular Zionists, the goal was merely to create a nation state so the Jews could live autonomously rather than at the whim of often hostile gentile rulers. Many secular Zionists were atheists who saw the Jews as a nation like any other, albeit a stateless one. Creating a state was no more than an answer to antisemitism and a means of protecting the Jewish people from persecution. For religious Zionists however, the establishment of the current State of Israel is a mere precursor to the coming of Messiah and the establishment of the “true” state of Israel, which will be a religious state ruled over by the Messianic king- whoever that may be. Until that day comes, the Jews remain unredeemed and, therefore, still in galut. Thus, orthodox Zionists celebrate the existence of the State of Israel and see it is a great miracle, but their attitude is one of “two cheers for the State of Israel”. They see the current state as incomplete and long for the coming of Moshiach ben David and the divine order to follow. Until that day comes, the exile will continue, even in the “Jewish state”.

I can’t think of another race of people that are a byword to the Nations on the scope and scale that the Jews are.
