The statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee that once stood in Charlottesville, Virginia, was secretly melted down at a ceremonial event.

After both cultural and legal battles, the statue of Lee that sparked the infamous Charlottesville "Unite the Right" rally was reportedly melted in a secretive ceremony in order to ensure the safety of those involved. The Washington Post reported that the statue met its end "in a 2,250-degree furnace" when it was "secretly melted down" to become a new piece of public art.

If you could go back and read the threads, ....oh wait, you can't because of hurt feels. Well, you will have to just take my word for it. When all this started, the idiot left claimed they were just going to move the statues to a museum, where they belong. That was as much of a lie as Biden not talking to his son about his overseas business dealings.

I do wonder, is it the total lack of integrity, or just the laughable amount of stupidity in the left that makes them unable to speak the truth? I'm guessing both, but regardless, they lied. Again. Still.

And soon, they will have removed all references to our past, and white wash it all, so we will have a nice clean slate to make those same mistakes again.

If I ever said anything about the left being stupid, I didn't really mean it, I just haven't come up with a word that accurately describes the level of idiocy displayed by the sky screamers.

Be careful on Hollywood Blvd, some of those placards on the walk might jump up and attack. Best get rid of any of those that look shifty.

Ya'll DERP better than anyone. Ever.

Remind me again which side is banning books and literally white washing history by banning any history that makes white people look bad?

Again, I really want to thank you for always being on point and showing what true idiocy looks like.

Now, when a book is banned, that would mean you can no longer obtain the book. Please list any and all books that the right has banned. Remember, if you can't, you are just showing how stupid you are.

The nerve of not wanting your child to read about anal sex. The real question, why are you so in favor of teaching kids how to mastrubate and provide oral sex to old men? Yes, all of that is what you're complaining about being banned. Presumably because it's amongst your favorite reading material. Wonder what we'd find if we hacked you!

Take a look at the list I just posted. There's more than just pornography on there. Why do you want to deprive students from accessing classic works of literature because they may deal with uncomfortable truths?

So, that statue itself was a piece of history. Something that could have brought forth a conversation when observed.
They destroyed it. In secret.

We humans are idiots. Doomed to repeat our failures.

I don't care about Robert E Lee or a statue of him. I care about being told it was just being relocated and then it was SECRETLY melted down. The woke ninnies get away with their crap.

Liberals can still buy all of them and pervert their kids in the privacy of their own home.

Maybe if a Nazi didn't kill someone over it, it would've been allowed to gather dust in some museum's basement.

I just showed you one. Are you going to deny it happened? Or aren't you smart enough to realize the context here?

Just give me one book Florida banned. One that you can no longer buy. Remember, if you can't, well, DERP.

LOL, then why was this one melted down? Did it kill anyone?

Are you now claiming that nobody said they were just going to relocate them?

You aren't very good at this.

Ultimately, I can't say I care about the statues. Altering history seems a concern though.

My take is that public statues are indeed meant to venerate a figure, and that's the whole point of them.
If most americans now agree that the south wanted slavery and that was wrong, then we also don't want to venerate someone who fought for slavery.

That act itself is not the same as erasing them from history books.

I went to Texas schools, and we had a "Texas History" class, where Jefferson Davis was spoke of as a hero,
and we were taught the Civil War was about States Rights, but one day I asked my teacher what rights the south was fighting to have, and this led to us having a heated debate in front of the class. He eventually had to concede that slavery was the main right they fought for.
So tearing down statues of Confederates I actually have to agree with.

However, with the amount of whitewashing going on,
history books are very likely to be change, things omitted.
Kids should still know who all these people were.

I do worry that talking about the Civil War or Confederates at all will be declared "Hate Speech", and then, not knowing how or why the war was fought, the coming generations will do it again. The nation is already divided enough to have a Civil War, let alone if you remove their knowledge of why it happened. I don't, however, think that even the most left of center want that, because the radical left is racist against whites,
and keeping Confederates in the history books can be spun to make whites as a whole look bad. Since we pretty much know they're going to try to do that, then why not tear the statues down? Tearing them down means less ammo to be used against white people when tensions reach critical mass.

I don’t give a rats ass who had slaves.
Something that happened 200-300 years ago isn’t my problem.
