I just wish he was a little more obedient.

He's a very headstrong young mammal and loves to get into everything.

He's a 4-second wonder, meaning if you tell him to do something, he is apt to stand there for a while before deciding whether or not to comply or dinghy you.

A lot of people have suggested getting him neutered.

But my thinking is it's a bit drastic to take the dog's nuts thus make him more compliant.

I'm sure he will get there in the end with perseverance, just don't want him to get knocked down because he's not listening or decided to chase a squirrel.

patience, practice, and letting him get a little older.

I wouldn't operate on a healthy animal. If you got him under control and he is not agressive or has any health condition that wouldn't make sense.

also: I'm a big fan of towlines to teach him to pay attention when you change direction at increasing bigger range, so he learns to stick with you at least with one eye

They're the only flying mammals, just that is pretty cool in my book

Suppose there are other mammals that can glide or parachute like the flying squirrels and lemurs.

But aye, as far as we know bats do appear to be the only freely flying mammals in existence.

The poem is based on the memory of night shift work in the tropics.
Open air barn, mostly just a roof.
With lights in the ceiling.

Thank you.

Makes me want to crawl around a cave full of bats!

You really don't want to crawl through guano.
Stick to larger caves to walk in
with high rubber boots.

Thank you.

I certainly hope they have no trouble digesting blister beetles.
It isn't good to smash those when they're crawling on your arm.

Nice! I'm trying to remember, I think they are silent swoopers.
Silent to the humans that is.

Statements of facts are hardly a lecture mate.

And i don't think we need Wikipedia to tell us about flying squirrels and lemurs.

My kid just had homework along similar lines which was asking about flying animals.

That is an interesting song.
Like I could comment on several lines.
but

He who makes a beast out of himself
Gets rid of the pain of being a man

Caught here in a fiery blaze, won't lose my will to stay
I tried, to drive all through the night
The heat stroke ridden weather, the barren empty sights
No oasis, here to see
The sand is singing deathless words to me

First long solo road trip
back in the old days
no radio
no AC
crossing the desert
I stopped at a small turnout to look out at the scenery
undulating land
peppered with fist sized rocks
looked like a volcanic debris field
calling for me to drop it all
and wander out
no looking back

But I resisted and found an oasis further on and filled my gallon jug.
I spotted the jug a couple of weeks later and chugged a good half of it.
Then I remembered the sign that read:
NON-POTABLE WATER

Worst dysentery ever!

There own words

nobody understands bats. They spread disease and drink blood, what is beautiful to them is ugly to everybody else.

But in the book it's really Ghoolion spreading the disease?

My lad was more interested in the likes of pterodactyls and was not very happy they were extinct.

So i was telling him about Albatrosses and legends of the Thunderbirds.
