I lived in the SF East Bay and wanted to get out since the 80s. To many people and traffic and and even getting away for a weekend only to find more of the too many people. Plus I had a job that I needed to retire from in order to move away which was the first thing i did when I did. If you still have all that you want there then that must be right for you. For me it wasn't. I needed ssssssppppppaaaaaacccccceeeeee.

I miss California and my friends there. I'm sure it's nothing like it was when I was there (up to early 2000s). Lived in Southern CA.

I'm a bit jealous that you've been able to secure a great place near the ocean.

I got reallyreally lucky and only for the grace of God. A starter fixer bought in the 80s prop 13. My father who gave me the down payment said i was crazy because it was twice the price of homes in NM for half the sq ft.

I kept it after my divorce have remodelled it twice and getting ready to do so again for a BnB suite. I like summers here but to cold and damp in winter so am looking at a property near the wall in the desert. Dune buggy winters for this old bird. Once im in, come see me! We are working on setting up a desert tour thing.

I read that he helped finance a 'Noahs Ark Park'.
Anyone who buys the Noahs Ark story isn't a critical thinker.
So my first impression isn't a good one.

Oh for sure! I'd definitely be up for visiting BOTH! You know I'm also a dessert bunny (if there's such a think, jackalope? Lol).

i just got back from driving from Brawley to Roswell back thru Carlsbad and El Paso and Las Cruces

Beautiful clear blue skies and the eclipse!

Gas was 3.07 in NM and I paid 5.59 here yesterday....

When graduated, 65, a buddy and I strapped our boards and hit all the California beaches from Surfin USA we could find. Even back then I recall realizing that there was only one way I could relate to So Cal and that was to be on the beach facing west.

We could make a list I"m afraid and that goes for Biden's shadow candidate. Even way back when he was just starting up his climb I saw him as an opportunist, but I suppose that goes for them all. He IS camera friendly though,

We did the same thing In Mexico in the 70s...Lived in Sayulita for a year. Paradise!
