Swiss government issuing potassium iodide tablets to population

Not on anyone's life would I take those tablets. I may acquire my own that I know are what they say they are. But from the gubment? Not! And whats this? It only protects you for a very short time from Thyroid cancer...just one of many cancers caused by various radiations....

you one hundred percent sure the gubment sent it? or that it is actually iodine tabs and only those with nothing else in them?

I am not swiss. But I myself would throw them away, because where I am, the gubment is ...well...Not going there...
If you think you may need them in the future, buy them privately from a reputable business.
By the way, how do you know for sure it was the gubment that sent these tabs

Apples and oranges. the term MAD explicitly applies to large numbers of nukes that will destroy a country. Look at all the bombers the UK sent over Germany for 6 years, it completely didnt destroty the country and we used much bigger bombers than they had. Chemical weapons main effectiveness is making it harder to fight in all the protective gear and to deny areas from civilians when you use persistent agents.

If you are not talking about loads of big nukes you are absolutely not talking about MAD.

False Alarm!!!

Although they can be used in the event of a conflict involving nuclear weapons this is something the Swiss Government is doing quite often.

People living within a 50km radius of Swiss nuclear power plants will receive a fresh stock of iodine tablets over the coming weeks and until next April.

It does indeed seem to be a routine issue of tablets for legitimate purposes. An efficient government is bewildering to us folks from Africa.

It does appear to be all official and above-board.

a reply to: rickymouse --- the most likely reason their government sent out a limited number of pills is the shelf life of that medication. Iodine is a member of the volatile halogen family on the periodic table of the elements. They all sublime, going directly from solid to gas without an intermediate liquid phase. In addition, the active protective component in iodine is gone within two years.

But *maybe* the Swiss government has figured out a timed-release formula which gets around this shelf life problem.

He just posted an image of a package they each received today via mail. It contains a box of potassium iodide tables (12 tablets).

Labelling is in English and Swiss German (I think):

To be taken only by order of the appropriate authorities
Protects the thyroid gland from radioactive iodine

So is the Swiss government just being cautious, or do they know something we dont? Is the Israel Hamas war about to get a whole lot worse?
