This is terrifying. My brother and his son live in Zurich, Switzerland (for the last 20 years). His son is a naturalized citizen, he is not.

He just posted an image of a package they each received today via mail. It contains a box of potassium iodide tables (12 tablets).

Labelling is in English and Swiss German (I think):
Kalii iodidum 65g
To be taken only by order of the appropriate authorities
Protects the thyroid gland from radioactive iodine
Antidote

Manufacturer is DRAC

So is the Swiss government just being cautious, or do they know something we dont? Is the Israel Hamas war about to get a whole lot worse?

Iran is ratcheting up their rhetoric and it would be silly to think they don't have a nuke or two at this point. I don't think they have the same worries of MAD, since they think they all get loads of virgins after they die.

That's a bad combination in my eyes, but the good news is, when it kicks off, most of us will just smile for the camera flash. I do feel sorry for those who don't get the first blast. Life after something like this wouldn't be very fun.

His son is doing his compulsory Swiss military service, last weekend they were in the bunkers cleaning them , doing maintenance etc. Apparently they can house the entire Swiss population for a relatively long time.

Not sure how much to read into this - the Swiss pride themselves on being prepared, but the iodide tablets distribution is a detail that gives me a cold feeling, They have never in recent memory done that (to my knowledge).

I'll offer a prayer that your people stay safe. I live close enough to Ft. Bragg Camp Candyland that we would be vaporized about 2 minutes after the first strike, which is preferable in my eyes.

But once some DERP sets off a nuke, it's game on for all the other DERP's, and then everyone jumps in the pool and the party is over.

They just haven't tested any thus far. And they are radical nut jobs. (government, not the people)

I don't think Russia will hesitate to transfer a few. Their backs are to the wall, and they would not mind splitting the West into a "second front" scenario. It's the only scenario that will reduce funding to the Ukraine. In fact it's happening already,

Apparently the tablets are issued to people living near their nuclear power stations.

From this article : Survey says Swiss lack knowledge about iodine tablets

In Switzerland, iodine tablets are sent every 10 years to households, businesses, and schools within 50 kilometres of one of the country’s four nuclear plants. The last distribution was in 2014, to 4.9 million residents.

He has lived in Zurich for 20 years, and this is a first. But I hope you are right - this seems to confirm your post link

psst...North Korea does and they have a close partnership with Iran.

Who's to say Little Kim hasn't been testing Iranian rockets all these years?

I trust no country to do the right think for their citizens anymore. It's all about power and money for the 1% of the world; the ret of us are insignificant deplorables.

This is all true, but I don't believe they have MAD capability, and we do.

If that is any reassurance at all. Small chance.

Personally I think the Swiss government is using the nuclear power plants as a cover story to distribute the tablets and avoid panic.
Maybe nothing sinister, and merely out of an abundance of caution.

At this point I don't believe in coincidences.

Iran has enough enriched uraniam to build ‘several’ nuclear weapons, UN says Jan 26, 2023 - LINK

“One thing is true: They have amassed enough nuclear material for several nuclear weapons, not one at this point,” Grossi said.

“We’ve heard a number of statements from the Iranian foreign minister that are dubious if not outright lies, so I would just keep that broader context in mind when you point to statements from the Iranian foreign minister,” State Department spokesperson Ned Price said Monday in a response to a question.

Surely more than enough to create unsophisticated "dirty" bombs, that can be easily delivered on a variety of weapon system payloads?

So of course Biden gives them more money in the way of cancelling sanctions and aid. 6 billion. and many many more billions in oil sales.

After Obama gave them all that cash on pallets.

Wonder why?

What does Valerie Jarette have to do with this?

Wonder what ever happened to Huma Abedin?

What did 51 intelligence officials know about Hamas planning? Would Brennan keep his mouth shut?
Who else in the CIA would be pro-Palestine?

So many questions never answered.

Nothing but fear mongering,
Again.

BTW, Iodide tablets are near worthless except for something like a dirty bomb.

It's not my intention to fear monger, merely passing on information given to me. I admitted that it scared me.

As a result , I learned about the Swiss government 10 year iodide tablet distribution system. That same information that I then passed on to my family. Fears are calmed through honest sharing of information.

This site has a decent cross section of knowledgeable people who are willing to share information, and not simply make a sarcastic comment that has no value to the conversation.
