As expected, a one-off study amplified by right-wing media’s anti-trans agenda and another ATS opportunity for folks to express their triggered outrage and disgust with anything having to do with trans issues. Yay!
The actual study is behind a paywall but there a few things we can gather from the abstract.
The hazard ratio (HR) for any CVD (cardiovascular diagnosis) was significantly higher in transgenders vs controls of same and other birth sex, with highest adjusted HR in transgenders AFAB vs control men:.... Gender-affirming hormone treatment (GAHT) explained part of elevated risk of CVD in transgenders AFAB, whereas GAHT did not contribute to the elevated risk of CVD in transgenders AMAB.
Definitions:
AFAB – born female
AMAB – born male
Well duh! Males generally have higher rates of cardiovascular issues so natal females taking testosterone should expect the same possibility.
Without having access to the actual paper there are simply too many unknowns about the criteria and methodology used to determine the accuracy and validity of this paper and with the trans community, socioeconomic factors affecting lifestyle can never be discounted.
And for the record, the aim of physicians and endocrinologists providing cross-sex hormone therapy for transition is to match the hormone levels of the transitioner’s target sex with most requiring blood work every 6 to 12 months to insure levels aren’t in excess of natal levels.
Out of curiosity how many here are on blood thinners, statins or blood pressure medication and did you take HRT to transition? Heart disease and related cardiovascular issues are the worldwide number one cause of death.

Well, anytime you mess with the natural order of the body you are going to get some side effects. And all drugs have side effects. Trans people taking hormones have a massively higher risk of heart disease. Something for people to think about before taking the medications.

Hello, trans person here who has been on hormones for more than a decade; thanks for the concern! Only.... wait, you weren't expressing concern, were you? This is just another gotcha, supposed to show how hideous and unnatural trans people are.

Its too late or early..but im guessing this study is cherry picking the dangers of premarin and ethinyl estrogen which is fairly well known and becoming increasingly less used by folks undergoing feminizing HRT.
The life expectancy for trans people is lower largely due to lack of effective health care and employment options that lead to sex work, drug use, and quacks that perform dangerous cosmetic procedures out of their house or hotel(look up pumping within the trans community) at a much higher rate than the general population, add the higher rate of homicide(often from hate crimes) then you get lower life expectancy of the entire community.

Shame on you for saying that. No where did I bash trans people. And you shouldn't assume to know my motivations. You clearly do not.
