You don't know what you would have done with people that were rescued from prison concentration camps where relatives had been gassed to death, after the war. No ideas, but you said we should learn from our mistakes with a world government, like the UN when they decided to give the survivors some land they had occupied centuries before.

I just wondered what the lesson should be.

Describing a completely different issue isnt a way to offer any alternative solution to what was done.

NO -- and again currently we have an influx of people trying to escape violence in their country.

Put up a fence?

I'm sorry you can't see the similarity.

Human suffering. Displaced people.

No -- I am not diminishing the "evils" of the past.

So in theory, if there is violence in a coutry, gangs, etc... people should be allowed to enter into the US.

WIth our crime rate. With our increasing and growing violence.

How do we tell the difference between refugees and cartel members? We aren't vetting people.

So soon, the violence and crime is here. It's happening already. Southern Arizona, NM, Texas.....

Albuquerque is back up to the 4th most dangerous city in the US. Yep.. small city in NM near the border is competing with the likes of Detroit and Chicago due to violent criminal gangs.

Where are Americans supposed to run to?

ETA: you still havent' suggested how the UN screwed things up at the end of the war and the people were liberated from the death camps.

HOW SHOULD IT HAVE BEEN HANDLED?

If you care about humanity and displaced people — you care about humanity and displaced people.

Yes, some throughout history are horrific. More so than others.

But it’s not a pick and choose.

You care or you don’t.

I care. That is in my heart.

Then my brain takes over, and I realize, it's really not that simple, because not everyone on earth actually cares about humanity and are evil.

And those with only a heart, don't usually have answers, because they aren't coming from an 'answer' place. Only a feeling place.

So those that can be realistic about survival of the good guys, realize that evil cannot be allowed to dominate or we will all live miserable lives and welcome death.

Yes, I agree.

I try to be aware of myself that I am not being politically selective.

Also, I try to stay where I know. I stay out if the Middle East because I am not knowledgeable. Also they’re way too religious. We have enough if that here.

How are religion and culture separate?

And atheism is a 'religion' in that it is a cosmological view that informs the persons sense of right and wrong. Secular Humanism is another religion. It all comes down to morality and/or spiritual belief.

Humans developed religion just about the same time we became sentient. Is it possible that 'religion' is necessary for a healthy human mind that has become aware of it's own impending doom?

'Religion' is the price we pay for sentience.

ANd not everyone is religious in the ME or anywhere else. Maybe they have oppressive govts that make them behave as if they are. Islamic people are no more fanatic than their Christian counterparts. There are some that go along with cultural norms and those that buy the dogma, and those that will avoid the whole thing as much as they can without being ostracised.

Atheism is lack of belief in a god. That’s it. Nothing more.

Individuals can have atheistic philosophies. But that’s individual. There is no doctrine of any kind.

All that is the beginning of a really good discussion.

But again — I try to stick to what I know.

And I’m not currently at home.

Yes, there is a doctrine. The Atheist doctrine of cosmology is science explaining random chance.

That's doctrine.

VS Intelligent Design.

It starts RIGHT there.

No there isn’t.

Lack of belief in a god is the one and only thing that makes someone atheist.

Anything else is individual belief/philosophy.

Science is science.

We are not fooled by the intent of the creation of intelligent design.

Intelligent Design is just another term for Creationism.

No non-believer is fooled.

You speak like a believer.

Believes are always trying to tell non-believers what the think.

And you’re always wrong.

Hate? That’s coming from you.

Atheism is not anti-god.

what hate?

Annee, i wont put up with that!

So its now hateful to have a sense of wonder at the universe and see miracles in highly unlikely events lining up?

Is it still hateful if thats the limit of my firm belief? if i dont name the designer. only intelligence visible in the design? And thats ALL i feel certain of?

funny definition of hate. sad really

You know, it's pure chance that I know about this response (and the other poster's response, which I find obscure). I didn't actually choose to reactivate my original account, but something (God?) prompted me just now to go back into it automatically and check my "replies" in passing.

Fortunately there shouldn't be an influx of private messages to that account to worry about.
