Except that a trademark is not the same thing as diamonds, cash, cars, etc.
After she already had trademarks in China?
Ivanka Trump this month received trademark approval from China for a broad array of items, including baby blankets, wallpaper and carpets. That wouldn't be unusual for a global business built on consumer goods such as elegant women's clothing and shoes, but it raises numerous ethical issues given that her father is the U.S. president.
The timing appears especially fraught given President Donald Trump agreed to rescue Chinese telecom giant ZTE Corp. shortly after Ivanka Trump's brand was awarded the trademarks.
"Last year, Ivanka's business won preliminary approval for three trademarks on the same day that she dined with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago. Earlier this year, Trump announced tariffs against China that exempted clothing — including clothing imports from Ivanka's Chinese manufacturers."

If theyd simply hold Hunter to some legal standard, everything else would sort itself out.

Then you are seeing things.
If you can't see influence peddling from Ivanka, then I guess you must be seeing things when you think that you see it from Hunter.
The difference here is we are saying investigate and jail anyone who broke the law. YOU are screaming to stop looking.

What is important about these trademarks? What advantage do they give to a Chinese Trademark holder?

Is influence peddling illegal? No. Bribery is illegal.
It would have been illegal for Kushner and Mnuchin to take Saudi money for their personal investment firm while they were employed/appointed by the US Government to negotiate treaties and deals with Saudi Arabia. But when they received the money, they were private citizens, so it's not illegal on the surface. Is there is some backroom quid pro quo that we're not privy to that would make these transaction illegal, maybe. Has DOJ opened an investigation? Probably.
What we have right now is what looks like Hunter Biden, a private citizen, influence peddling access to his father. What we don't have is evidence that Joe Biden got paid bribery money, for Hunter's troubles, or doled out favors to protect Hunter.

Nobody is denying that he said it. What we're denying is that Joe Biden blurted out his deviant plot to fire the Ukrainian Prosecutor to protect his son Hunter from some imagined investigation Shokin was (not) doing on Hunter Biden.
What he did do is take credit for an international effort to arrest corruption in the Prosecutor's office.
After all, Shokin resigned 3 months after Joe's ultimatum regarding the US's $1 billion, but only 6 days after the IMF threatened to withhold $40 billion.
