MSNBC only gave 5 minutes to it. CNN keep using the word "shocking".

I only caught the tale end of the story on the news about gold bars. Didn't see any follow up.

I don't know much about stamped gold bars, but if it was me, I'd melt that gold down and pour it in a few holes in the ground in Alaska, dig em up and claim to have found gold nuggets while on a hunting/fishing trip.

Was listening to some talking heads and this is a case that (while) may not set precedent, will bring to an argument that an indicted politician cannot run for office.

Menendez has long been known as a deep DC corrupt actor; this is not new.

However, the existence of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee is based on the participants selling U.S. policy and influence for their personal financial gains.

New York Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer knew this when he put Menendez into the Chair position.

A position formerly held by Joe Biden, who did the same thing as Menendez albeit with a greater level of plausible deniability.

This guy is hilarious. He was caught dead-to-rights years ago for all the same stuff. But he got away with it mysteriously by the skin of his teeth. He musta figured he was untouchable and just kept doing it.

If he’s tangled up with Biden somehow, depending on who’s pursuing this thing, he’s either Biden’s escape clause, or Biden’s setup.

I think guilty until proven innocent still applies.

If these politicians are accused or indicted for something and choose to still run or stay in their positions and they are found guilty down the road there should be consequences for not withdrawing or stepping down.

First, obviously, they loose their positions.

Then maybe, a big fat fine, a huge fine, as that is what hits them hardest.

It looks like the wife tried to sell them with the stamps still visible. Didn't work. Make crappy jewelry out it and sell it for junk gold value.

I'm pretty upset now. The fact that the search warrant was executed June '22, means Menendez knew that an inditement would be coming down the line. He could have resigned the Chair position then and gotten a replacement, but didn't.

Now he's playing the victim. I really hate when politicians play the victim.

This is the same guy that said Trump’s alleged corruption kept him up at night.

Yeah kept him up all night here in the states coordinating bribes from Egypt in the daytime there.

I think some of yall are missing the forest for the trees here.

Either Menendez is so confident that he is insulated and protected that his carelessness wasn't an issue.

Or

His hubris is backing his stupidity, questioning how his hubris was attained would be the key in this scenario.


So he ran afoul of his own "side." Or he did something so outside of bounds (for DC) that they had no choice but to go after him.





Or this is contrived leverage.

I think the DOJ is using the Senator as the Judas Goat as in Leviticus 16:22. He is to take in all the DOJ inequity as far as working against the GOP unequally with lawfare. They will sacrifice a big old corrupt Senator to make their treatment seem more balanced. You can tell from the rhetoric coming from them when they announced the indictment against him. They detailed how not partisan this makes them look.
