I can find exactly one source for this article. The AP. All the other links are copies of it. No one else is doing any unique reporting on this? Not precedent setting, but odd. I'm gonna say this is an embellished hit piece.

The issue is McCarthy has not had the votes to authorize the impeachment inquiry and many of the moderate Republicans don't want to go on the record with their vote.

McCarthy can't do anything, he's literally being held hostage by the nutjobs on the far right of the Republican Party. Remember how many votes it took for him to finally get his dream job as Speaker? He has a tiny majority that's going to start to diminish once Santos gets kicked out for lying like a cheap rug. So far he has achieved exactly.... *checks notes* diddly/squat. Almost nothing of consequence has been passed and frankly I'd be amazed if anything will be in the year and a bit he has until the next election.

Strangely enough, I think we’ve said the same thing.

McCarthy really hasn’t doesn’t done squat for 8 months.

After agreeing to do several things in a binding agreement to get his beloved speakership.

So now he’s going back on his word, trying to serve the dems and WH however they tell him to, and sneakily avoid what he owes.

Not sure how you can logically or honestly support this, even if your whole world is hating GOP and loving Biden.

Not only is there the looming Santos issue but Chris Stewart is resigning. Then we also have to wonder if there will be any repercussions for Bobo getting to third base in a theater.

McCarthy is, frankly, trapped. There is nothing he can do to avoid the inevitable utter fact that his speakership will be one of failure. He's promised too many people too many conflicting things and now his authority is visibly ebbing.
I'm tempted to almost feel sorry for him, but you're right, he thought that he was entitled to be Speaker and he probably would have sold his own grandmother for the title. And now he's in the job, he's realised that he sold his soul for a nifty title that he won't have for very long.
Nope, I don't feel sorry for him. It must have been gas.
A question though: if he's ousted as Speaker, who's his logical successor?

Which is frankly worse. But I don't really see anyone from the moderate side of the party that would be able to compete with them.

That entire story made me roll my eyes. Boebert came screeching out of the blocks denying everything that was alleged and then when it emerged that there was security camera footage that seemed to confirm everything only then did she admit that her behaviour had been less than stellar.
If she's not primaried ahead of 2024 I'll be amazed and if she's the candidate in her district next year she's toast. She keeps making the headlines for all the wrong reasons and from what I've heard her likely Democratic opponent is massively outraising her in terms of funding.
I read about Chris Stewart with some sadness. His wife must be very ill indeed.

A resolution drafted by Matt Gaetz was just found in a Capitol bathroom calling for the Speaker of the House seat to be vacated.

For the second time this week, the GOP has failed to pass a simple procedural vote that would allow debate on their defense spending bill to begin.

McCarthy was so desperate to cement his legacy by becoming Speaker of the House he sold his soul to the lunatic branch of his Party. Now he is cementing his legacy as the worst Speaker of the House in history.
