Contempt of Congress is a federal charge. Sure, Congress could potentially have Capitol police arrest someone but the second the DOJ says they're not pressing charges that person would need to be released.

Why don't we just detain them for 2.5 years?

No arraignment nor charges required.

Get the proof and present it to the people so we know it's not a witch hunt because of hurt feelings about Trumps crimes.
