He would have won regardless.

No one was going to to vote for Jeb!™ or any of the other turds they rolled out.

Edit:
It was the presidential debates against Hilary that put him over in 2016.

Right! JEB BUSH was pumped up by the same media who pumped up the danger of Covid-19. But when he got out on the campaign trail...
It's the same with DeSantis today. All of the big power people and corporations can't help Gov. DeSantis, if he crashes and burns like he did during his "I'm Running for President?" announcement on Live Twitter earlier this year.

AMERICANS ARE A LOT SMARTER in 2023/2024!

What do you call a man who was elected to Run a state, but wants to do something else, even though the people who elected him, are asking that he stay and continue doing the job they elected him to do?

an american i presume

if he decides the best approach to protectng his florida constituents is being president, who are we to make him second guess his career

And DeSantis has a track record that apparently appeals to you guys. And he's actually taking part in the debates.

And Pence was VP for those "accomplishments." Which means he xan stake claim to them as well. And he's actually taking part in the debates.

The simple fact of the matter is that Trump is a coward. Either that, or, he knows he wouldn't be able to go five minutes without incriminating himself.

If you want to live in imaginationland, by all means. Go ahead.

But the GOP field has been garbage for 20+ years.

They didn't cheat hard enough in 2016,but they learned their lesson and doubled down in 2020.

That's why we're where we are now. The evidence is overwhelming, just because the courts refused to look at it doesn't make it go away.

The GOP is useless and died long ago.

Have you not seen his recent thread about Trump's latest NFT? CWM is hoping for Trump to split the Party.

The GOP cheated in 2016, barely scraped by the skin of their teeth, then doubled down in 2020, and lost?

Sounds like a dead Party to me.

I like DeSantis, but his campaign has been an unmitigated disaster.

I hope he can recover and do for the country what he's done for Florida over the last few years.

But he has zero chance of beating Trump in 24. That's just reality.

anyone who skips debate should be disqualified, just like someone skipping a job interview

I get you. But his ties to Pharma and his enthusiasm for lock downs, masks, and the jab make me question his decision making.

I think he'll end up playing a big role, but I'm skeptical.

I don't disagree at this point.

But Trump pussing out of the debates gives his opponents the ability to make up a lot of ground, while he gains nothing.

What?

I was talking about the lefts cheating.

The GOP has been a non-factor since 2008.

Have you seen the polls?

He has zero opposition for the primaries. It's not even in question.

But the primaries don't really matter. It's the swing States and them finding ways to keep him off the ballot.

Does that make Desantis look good or bad to progressives?

And, as a sidetone, I have recently come to believe in reincarnation. Sort of.

Oh he only went to Harvard AND Yale, and not on some rich parents donations either btw. Dollars to donuts, especially with law and constitutional law, DeSantis is much smarter than those who slander and put him down. He just has crap campaign folks. I need to reach out to his team and give him a hand, I think I could certainly contribute.

It would be hard for California to keep Trump off the ballot. Swing States, impossible.

Both of those things are true, IMHO.

But that's not why Trump isn't debating. He isn't debating because he doesn't really have to; debating isn't going to improve his standing in the primaries and he could only lose standing by associating with the wannabes. From his perspective, he's doing exactly the right thing by staying above the fray.

As I said before, at this stage of the game in 2015, Jeb was the shoo-in.

It was Trump's performance in the primary debates that clinched him the nomination.

Trump does not even need to be in the first round of debates, because let's be honest still over a year away, there will be plenty. This will simply wind the pool down, some will drop out. He is only interested in debating his actual competition once the candidates have whittled down a bit.
