Welcome back , good to hear from you.

Thank you very much.

I want to tell you what happened after we left Moscow.

I remind you that I came to a military commissariat on September 24, 2022. After that, our regiment was formed in a certain Moscow military unit where we were brought. On November 8, we boarded a train and slowly rode it. On the morning of November 11, our platoon got into a truck (with our things) and we drove for 11 hours. We disembarked from the truck at a place that I don't know how to properly describe in English.

This is a very long but very narrow strip of trees. For example, its length can reach a kilometer, and its width can be 10 meters (three or four rows of trees). Usually there are fields on both sides of this strip (in our case, sown with sunflower). These forest strips were planted during the Soviet era to protect crops from wind and soil from erosion. Russian and Ukrainian troops mostly hide in such tree strips.

So we were brought to such a strip of trees and unloaded there. For me it was a shock because I thought that as a territorial defense regiment we would guard some object in a city or village and we would have barracks or houses. We found a hole from a tent in which there used to be some units of the LPR militia (we found their flag). We unpacked our sleeping bags and went to bed. Day and night were still quite warm. I lay in my sleeping bag and looked at the sky. I thought that here it is - the romance of nature. At that moment, a branch from a tree fell into my eye and I turned on my side and tried to sleep. I stopped thinking about the romance of nature.

Now that you've been forced into participating in this war, have your views on it or your government changed at all?

I really did not like how this partial mobilization was carried out in Russia.

The level of my trust in the Russian Ministry of Defense has reached its minimum.

Then I apologize for being so cold then.
Just dont do anything you personally know to be wrong then. I know soldiers are just following orders to stay alive not because they actually believe in what a corrupt leadership says. Personally I cannot see why you fight for a man who even perverts the Catholic faith to canonize russia as holy when it started the fight, but i digress.

Think for yourself and if you get surrounded, just give up and surrender. Theres no shame in Living another day.

Considering your position from before you were deployed this is an interesting development.

What are your thoughts on Wagner's attempted coup?

Did you guys even known that happened?

Fir guys like us ....I'm sure you realize now....war is what it is

But I do hope you come back healthy bud.....come home and take care of your fam....

I'm just learning to understand what war is.

I have never seen the eyes of the enemy.

I continue my story.

The next day we went to the next strip of forest with our things, because military positions were determined for us there. At that time, some trenches were dug in front of this strip of trees and behind it stood one 6-meter container dug into the ground - containerpark.ru...

This container housed the leadership of the company and I. The company commander constantly scolded me for not collecting enough firewood for a stove. But then I didn’t have an ax or a saw or a chainsaw. The rest of the soldiers were digging a dugout in the frozen soil, hoping to sleep in comfort. Finally, my company commander and I finally quarreled because he wanted me to collect firewood for the stove and listen to a phone in the container at the same time.

After that (on the same day) I was sent to the nearest village (several kilometers from us). The soldiers of our platoon and several soldiers from other platoons of our company found an abandoned house without a stove. Although one of the windows was broken and there was rubbish on a floor, it was still a better shelter from the coming cold than what the tree line provided us with. At night, one of the local residents who sympathized with us came to us (in the morning his wife brought us chicken meat). We stayed in this house for two days and then moved to another house.

A question. do you have a digging tool or shovel? If you can,get a whetstone and sharpen a edge on it. The side is best if its the russian digging tool. makes a good axe/cutting tool for small branches.

I can only say that this is a very strange war in which almost all units are constantly hiding from enemy drones.

Sounds like a prelude to the Terminator series. Any luck with focusing the magnetron from a microwave to short these suckers out? I know the trend is to shield against EMP, as for how that practically plays out? This tech is high on the radar for what made Roswell.

As or this conflict, looks like it has been decades in the making with the cultural animosity going on. I do prefer the Olympics as a more civil outlet of this competitive nature.

Trump could have a serious discussion with Putin, as for the road Biden is on, wake me up when it is over.

I am not a military analyst and professional, but I cannot imagine how regiment-sized military units can continue to exist if drones, satellites and artillery rise one more level in their development.

Why do we NEED to support Ukraine?! We haven’t a clue what is even happening over there other than the fact that the Ukraine has its hands in every corruption imaginable! With a media who is above and beyond dishonest in every way, how do you make such a definite statement!? Cuz you know, Russia has a totally different story and we have no clue which side is more honest!

Glad to hear from you. A lot on here have been hoping you were OK.

Stay safe, my friend.

Thank you.

I continue my story.

So we found another abandoned house in the village. It was a house with a working stove, and we were able to fix the light there after a while. It was a good time because the soldiers were on their own. We were not delivered food from the regiment. That's why we did everything ourselves. We used our own money to buy food and other things we needed in small village shops. We carried water, sawed wood, cooked food, maintained order in and around the house. We were 17 people from two platoons (first and fourth) of our company. Soldiers also lived in many other houses. The population of the village treated us either favorably or reservedly. No one showed open hostility towards us. Of the incidents with the population, I remember two. The old woman was sitting on a bench near her house and was selling a goose. Drunken soldiers walked past her and they did not like the price of the goose. One of them cut off the goose's head. After them came a soldier from our platoon and he learned this story from a weeping woman. He gave her twice as much money as she wanted for that goose. On another occasion, drunken soldiers entered a store and at gunpoint forced the saleswoman to her knees and forced her to sell them alcohol. But in daily communication, I often saw how the locals helped us and we also tried to help them.

One night, when we were sleeping, there was an explosion and our house jumped and plaster fell from the walls. We were told on the portable radio that it was gas cylinders that exploded and we continued to sleep. But the next morning it turned out that it was a HIMARS missile strike on the village. Ukrainian troops tried to hit the builders from Moscow who came to the village. As a result of the impact, one person was injured by shrapnel.

I lived in this village for about a month (from mid-November to mid-December).

Good to have you back.

You are a part of the ATS Family.

Thank you.

This is a very nice family.

I continue my story.

In December, the company commander ordered us to return to the company positions. By that time, an excavator had already dug holes for new containers and they were installed there. However, there was no place for me and I lived in a kitchen tent for four months. We set up the kitchen tent because after several deliveries of food, we realized that the military unit that is supposed to cook food either does not want or cannot do it in a normal way. When we opened the containers with food, the view of it was such that we didn’t want to eat it at all. Therefore, we suggested that they give us the ingredients for the dishes and we will cook our own food. In the tent, I slept on ammo boxes, which also served as benches and food storage. There was also a large (meter-long) stove in the tent, on which food for the platoon was prepared and which warmed me at night when everyone went to their containers.

I hope you can have some enjoyment from your vacation, do you have any special plans?

Good to see you here!

...

3) I want to download books, music and films so that I can get acquainted with them in my free time in my dugout.

I had only three books (all in paper form): the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita and a book on Zen. As a result of moving to other military positions, I was left with only one book. For the last few months I have been reading only the Bhagavad Gita.

So nice to hear you are ok.

Add this/these Link one to your list:
I don't know Russian, but I PMd you the direct links. download any pdfs that look interesting.

Thank you for your sympathy and the link (it does not open for me).

I continue my story.

In March, a couple more containers were brought. At the same time, an experienced man from our platoon arrived from a hospital. Under his leadership, we began to equip a container for housing. We covered the floor with two layers of boards and the walls with one layer of boards, but we left the ceiling as it was so that there would be less condensation on it. He and I decided that we would make sleeping places for four people. (In other containers there were sleeping places for eight people and therefore there was room only for a stove and a coat rack. Therefore, near the exit from a container, the soldiers from boards always made a spacious veranda. Some soldiers made this veranda open and used it as a warehouse for things, while other soldiers made such verandas closed and made a table and benches there to eat and spend leisure time.) Since we only counted on 4 beds, we actually didn’t need a veranda. There was enough space inside the container so that we could place a stove, a woodpile, a table, a bench, shelves and hangers there. And during March and April I lived in this sparsely populated container. By the way, there was a TV that was sent by the relatives of one of the soldiers. But we could watch it only from 5 pm to 10 pm, since only at that time they turned on the generator for our company.

Quite the opposite.

Your name featured quite regularly on the site with a few fearing you may have died but all hoping you were safe and well.

Good to see you're alive and well; while i disagree with Putin's actions in Ukraine you seem like a thoroughly nice guy and highly valued member on here.

Try Kurt Vonnegut and Arthur C. Clarke for reading material and get plenty of rest/spare pairs or socks (idealy merino wool or bamboo) to stop foot infections and boost morale.

Thank you for your words of support.

I don't have time to look at forum threads right now, so I didn't know that I was often mentioned here. For me, this is a surprise.

I have heard a lot about Kurt Vonnegut but have not yet read his works. From the works of Arthur C. Clarke, I read the novel The City and the Stars (1956).

I am very pleased to hear you're okay Turretless! And I hope you continue to stay safe until this pointless war (IMO) ends.

Whilst I totally disapprove of Putin and what he has done, I still consider the Russian people to be friends and I think most people in the UK, Europe, USA and beyond would say the same. We are all victims together.
