I remember as a kid parents being able to keep certain subjects from their kids, when did this become a bad thing?

also considering the rising number of kids that cant read at a 6th grade level and cant do basic math, schools really should be focusing on the fundamentals.

You've a point.

We used to have things like sports, chess, metal and wood shop, home economics, ROTC, foreign languages, music etc etc.

These have largely been gutted from public schools and yet they were integral to culture, formerly American culture :wink: .

Something is filling the vacuum left by the absence of those things and none of them are for a greater social cohesion.

INCORRECT. Read the opening post again. I didn't 'claim' anything. I PROVED that LGBTQ books ARE in the Maryland school system (a partial list of the 20 books being used was provided) and that they are being challenged in court by hundreds of parents who do not want their children indoctrinated with pride or trans books.

I already provided links at the start of this thread that state there is a word list at the end of the book Pride Puppy that asks the child to find the images in the book. Go back and reread the thread. It's there.

The book is at a childs level with bright colors and pretty pictures.
It is written at a childs level because that is the target audience.
But the book is about indoctrination into the left wing version of morality.

People can argue all day long, but the issue stands that the only identifying feature of LGBT is their sexual preference. That in itself is not something that needs to be celebrated with schoolchildren.

We went down this road a week ago and not one person could come up with what identifies LGBT outside of their bedroom behavior, so stop gaslighting people into believing it is something else.

the problem here is there are those who piggy back the tq movemement as they did the rc church and then the gay rights movement in the 80s and 90s.

this impacts actual trans rights activists, as it did roman catholics and it did the gay community.. we can see that happen in different guises.. here is an example from a germany going to far..

it aso plays into the aims of pro pedophile groups like pie who believe the only way to remove the age of consent is to sexualise children, the argument is to allow them to have informed choices, on the face of it giving children sexual rights to their own bodies but the pro pedophiles groups also want to remove the age of consent, thus manufacturing consent in the children.

as a survivors of csa this is about the only topic i've ever felt an activist one, so all these things are a red flag to me..

The only thing sexual that should be taught is basics in BIOLOGY class. And that isn't until high school.

To read and was very sexualized cartoonish style art. I think it is a step in pushing sexualization younger and younger to normalize the idea within children. There is this concept that children are a lot more mature in thought than what we know they are and so things like letting a 10-year-old make life-changing decisions are being pushed as a norm, and of course, if they are mature enough to do that then they are mature enough to understand and practice sex too.

This is kind of funny since I remember going back a few years here on ATS and the liberals I debated with were pushing the idea that people really do not mature enough to be adults until like 25, and so they should be treated like teens until that age, and now it is a 180-degree flip suggesting younger and younger ages are mature.

It also seems parts of the medical community is very eager to help them along that path and so makes it easy until one day they realize the mistakes they made and the people who helped them make those mistake was not help. The reason homosexuality (PRIDE) is celebrated is because for most of human history, people that liked the same sex were beaten, jailed, and even killed.

It wasn't too long ago that kids were often bullied if people discovered they were gay or god-forbid trans.

The reason its mentioned in schools is to prevent bullying and encourage accepting others. And no, it's not all about sex. There's nothing to be ashamed about in sex anyway. It's the most natural human experiance.

Can we move on from this already? We got aliens here and an economy thats being taken over by corporations. If ANYTHING, we should be worrying about the financial security of our kid's future.

Republicans are turning this into a bigger issue than it has to be. If specific schools find books the majority dont want in their school, them remove it. Pretty simple. End of story.

Lets be honest, the main reason republicans are turning all this into a big story is because of religious indoctrine and an underlining belief that homosexuality is against God.

I'm not religious, but I do feel kids should mature on their own timelined and not be pushed ahead by adults. I think the bigger problem I have is people like you come along and say, its no big deal...

If you cannot understand that a book like "this book is gay" is based on very adult themes and pushing it to grade school is wrong to the point many liberals are fighting to keep it there I do not know what to say. We also need to understand that adults in that decision chain saw it as OK in the first place, so what else are they pushing along the same lines?

That type of lesson is called inclusivity and acceptance of others and there is nothing sexual about it. It seems some here like you keep mixing up learning how to accept others with the main point of the so-called conservatives that the sexualization of children is being pushed as a norm by many schools.

I’m gonna talk about my 15 year old.

Some say Autistics should have their own sexual category. They don’t follow the rules.

But basically among his friends they’re just “open”.

What you feel, how you feel, is just “open”. There’s no taboo or judgment.

The kids are fine.

The fear, prejudice, judgment, hysteria is not coming from the kids.

As far as medical, I support counseling first.

But honestly, how many qualified counselors are there in this area? Finding a counselor qualified in Autism is tough enough.
