Bud Light maker to lay off hundreds of US corporate staff after sales slump

Anheuser-Busch InBev (ABI.BR), whose Bud Light sales have recently slumped in the United States, will lay off hundreds of corporate staff in the country, CNN reported on Wednesday citing a company statement.

The job cuts would represent less than 2% of total employees at the world's largest brewer, but would not include frontline staff like brewery and warehouse staff, drivers, field sales among others, CNN reported.

Anheuser-Busch did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Bud Light and Budweiser have recently seen its sales drop in the US after a backlash from conservatives over a social media promotion with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney and has been dethroned by Constellation Brands' (STZ.N) Modelo Especial as the top-selling beer brand in the country.

A few comments.

First and most important, if you go woke then you go broke. I think everyone should learn their lesson by now.

On a plus side, frontline staff haven't lost their jobs. I am not in favour of people loosing their jobs, especially ordinary workers who have nothing to do with the bad decisions caused by others in the company (management) and could be against this woke madness.

The article mentions the sales drop after a backlash from conservatives. But it's not only conservatives who criticise the woke ideology and the fact Bud Light, Ben & Jerry's, NatWest, and all other companies/corporations are there to sell us their products and services, but they are not there to tell us how to think, what to think, what to say, how we will say what we want to say, and to try push the woke agenda through their products and with the help of bad actors.

It gets more than tiring to see media shift the mistakes they continue to make on to conservatives by claiming only conservatives "caused" this to happen. It eliminates taking responsibility for anything by saying only conservatives are against whatever woke nonsense caused some calamity to happen.

Every failure caused by the left is shifted over to conservatives with the big lie that only conservatives are against whatever they failed at.

It truly is pathetic.

The left wing press is trying to shift responsibility to the conservatives for the policy failures some of the companies that have gone woke. They've the part where it's a large number of their clients who are opposing the woke agenda these companies trying to push when promoting and trying to sell us their products.

Not true. If you're trying to argue Snow White is the biggest movie with the woke cast. I am not quite sure who is going to watch the non white princess in the absence of a prince and in the presence of a seven weird gender queer non binary forest creatures. Goof luck if you're watching the film but I will give it a miss.

When did I ever say Snow White was the biggest movie in the world? It's not even out.

You're free to check out Ben Shapiro's 40+ minute review of the Barbie if you doubt that Conservatives are calling it woke. You're also free to check how it's doing at the box office.

In the end it isnt about "woke agenda" or trying to change the way we think. Corporations the size of Anheiser Bush are into one thing, making money, thats it. They wanted to ride this transgender phenomena trying to attract newer, younger customers but neglected to remember their current "older" customers and the gamble failed. They were so preoccupied with the money they thought they were gonna make they forgot about the money they could potentially lose? It was a massive gamble that will, as always, fall on the backs of the everyday worker where the executives who actually rolled the dice will get a pat on the back for being so brave to have even tried.

This is nothing new. In the 80's Coca Cola tried to ride the whole war against sugar campaign by introducing a newer more youthful formula trying to gain newer, younger customers and just like Anheiser Bush, it blew up in their faces by trying to pander to the en vogue crowd. Just as then, "conservative" lunatics who are deathly afraid of change rose up and started barking so loud but all they really did was the exact same thing...nothing. Coke controls a giant portion of the market today with so many varieties as a lesson learned and Anheiser Bush will follow that same game plan in the near future because progress ALWAYS wins in the end.

The first rule of business has always been the same..."He who builds on people builds on mud."

Not sure if MIDR and Barbie can save the summer blockbuster season, throw in the strike. It's gonna hit people economically that's all I care about. Its already hit Georgia"s burgeoning TV and Movie industry

Light beers are a ripoff. Cost less to make but charges customers the same price as regular beers.
