The Donald J. Trump Documents Trial is Delayed to MAY 20th 2024 at the Earliest.

Last month (June), Judge Aileen Cannon set the Trial Start Date as August 14, 2023...giving Special Counsel Jack Smith the "Speedy Trial" he promised the country, when announcing the charges against former President/Candidate Donald Trump.

But S.C. Jack Smith/DOJ balked...saying August was TOO Speedy! They asked Judge Cannon to have Trump's trial start on December 11, 2023.

Candidate Trump's team chimed in, requesting the trial delayed until after the busy 2024 Presidential campaign season ends, on Nov 5, 2024.

After 10 days of considering both requests, Judge Cannon decided MAY 20, 2024 would be a good target date for the trial to start...

Judge Aileen Cannon has smartly delayed the trial portion of the case until May 20, 2024.

I say smartly, because by Mid-May 2024, President Trump will likely have wrapped up the GOP nomination, and that structural reality itself will punt the rest of the gibberish into a time ever more distant. Smart base-covering and no room for appeal move by Judge Cannon!

This is a structural and procedural win for President Trump, a wrongly targeted American citizen within a process weaponized by a comprehensively corrupt government.

Judge Cannon is no dummy. She knows the stakes, sees the transparency of the effort, and is not an ideologue.

Her earlier rulings, in the document side of the FBI raid, reflected her awareness the system was being manipulated by agents of Lawfare intent.

May 20th, which will never happen, is a good target, all things considered.

I don't think you are looking at the bigger picture of possibilities here. Ya sure seems great and all yet has the potential to create a bigger problem than any candidate would want. I personally would rather get this over with and move on to prove his innocence so we can focus on progress. But no Trump and camp like to prolong things to a completely unnecessary length.
If he has nothing to hide then why constantly delay? He is being shady as always and yet people cheer him on while constantly being duped then trying to justify the why...

What a surprise, another misleading thread title in a thread of yours. Judge Cannon had set the preliminary date of the trial for Aug. 14, which then required all pre-trial motions to be filed by July 24. Because of the amount of evidentiary material and the need for Trump's lawyers to be vetted for security clearances, the DOJ asked for a December trial. Given the fact that Trump already has his NY trial set for March, 2024, that there may be a couple more trial dates set for other Trump cases within this time frame, and that Trumps lawyers asked for a trial delay until after the election, this seems like a reasonable compromise for the date. I don't see any of these trials involving him being scheduled past Aug. 2024 on account of the impending election.

And given the fact that Trump's lawyers wanted the trial postponed until after the election and this will take place during the primary campaign, this isn't good news for Trump.

I still haven't decided if he's really being railroaded by the corrupt progressives because they're actually afraid of him or if it's all part of the long game to purposefully turn him into a martyr and shoe him in in 2024.so that his supporters embrace him as some kind of annointed messiah to usher in the ultimate totalitarian fascist regime.

Trump has been the BEST USA President of my lifetime. Under the Biden Admin. I would NEVER let my child join the USA military and I'm former USA military Veteran who is very Patriotic of my birth country.

Trump will be in the courtroom from May 20, 2024 until the trail ends. Summer months are when campaigns hit the hardest, so I don't see sidelining Trump as being favorable to the party, and I predict this will be the longest trial in history. It'll probably last well into November with all of the documents and evidence the prosecutor will be presenting. They've effectively sidelined him from the campaign trail at the most critical time.

I think the only reason the man's still alive is because he's either part of or is useful for the agenda.

ROFL, so it's still all Trump's fault because a judge saw through the misuse of the (currently) injustice system, and didn't cave in to TDS afflicted democrats in their ongoing witch hunt and malicious prosecutions. You want your victims to hold their head still so it can be cut off without any fuss or muss.. But it's all because Trump has something to hide? The entire case should have been vacated.

The trial was initially set for August because it was legally required. The Speedy Trial Act requires a trial to start within 70 days of the indictment.

The DOJ requesting the December date was a strategical decision. They knew there's no way all of the necessary hearings would be done by then, but it put Trump's lawyers on the back foot.

For a CIPA trial, May was probably the best the DOJ could have hoped for. This is a win for them and a loss for Trump.

Record spending pre COVID, then record bailouts after. It’s not hard to figure out where all this inflation came from.

it’s definitely a fair argument to have if he’s better than Biden… but the best president in a lifetime shouldn’t be considered for one of the worse fiscal presidents in modern history.
