I don't see any censorship. I see the free market working as it's intended.

Do you approve of how the Right has reacted to Bud Light's short web video?

CMT Pulls Jason Aldean Video....

Also, when searching "Jason Aldean censored," I get various different stories dating back to 2014.

Do you think there is a difference from consumers choosing not to buy something versus a business kneejerk pulling existing material off the shelf?

The fact that we all know exactly who that is kinda sinks whatever point you were trying to make.

A for effort?

At least they could have used a like for like example.

Art, not sports.

Personally I would have chosen a picture of Kathy Griffin holding a likeness of the President’s bloodied decapitated head.

When did CMT become a government agency?

Nice try.

Non gov't agencies can censor all the same.

This isn't a gov't argument.

Companies haven't censored Dylan Mulvany.

So your analogy is false and incorrect.

Please try again and justify censorship of free expression.

Agreed.

It would be prudent to post an analog and yet, we haven't seen one yet.

I don't see a problem with it. All you see nowadays is EXACTLY what he's singing about.

The reason people are upset about it, is that what the lyrics describe has been adopted as CULTURE for certain groups. Therefore it's offensive and racist.

Further proof of how deeply people are rooted in the Land of Make Believe.

The same as any rap song encouraging the culture of busting caps.

All of that aside... The one point I do see (Where I honestly thought the song was going) where the song could have gone is that in smaller towns and cities (small cities), you can't get away with burning whatever down when you want. You disrespect a cop, you probably wont get shot but you will get put in jail. Maybe even roughed up a bit. If you really get out of hand, you'll likely have more charges thrown at you than you could ever afford to pay for. People are more "hold my beer" than "let's burn down the general store!".

But the "hold my beer" dumb, that's taking the idea of funny just a bit too far. You know... Hormones and pheromones' mixing with testosterone and dopamine.

Big cities? Police are spread way too thin. Crime understands this. It's a recipe for a perfect storm of everything and anything. Cultures clash. Territories. Politics gets deeply rooted and people are very divided. Mix in the haves and haves nots... There might be trouble.

This thread is inspiring me.
I've begun penning the lyrics to a song I've entitled
"Try That in Seattle"

I'm sorry but anyone bitching about this song had better boycott, "cancel" whatever the new buzzword is any and all rap songs that mention a gun, sluts, drugs, killing cops, etc. There is no difference

I can't believe anyone could possibly be upset about that song, it's long past due and about time someone came out and said it!
I live in a small town and wish they would play it here!

The left censors free expression

For the sake of my sluggish education, can anyone explain for me how the canceller here, ''Country Music Television'' is a part of the generalized catagory '' the left''?

Could it be that CMT is a communist organization? Certainly not as it is a profit driven corporation. Maybe a socialist organization ? Nope, can't be as it is not likely owned by the workers there.

So what can it be I wonder that makes this a ''leftist'' decision. Let's look at the market it serves. Mostly people who lean to listening to country music. Yeah, that makes sense, so let's look at that market, briefly. I'm supposing here that the market for product CMT pushes is more conservative than liberal, but that's just a guess based on the generalization that more conservatives listen to country music than to liberals. That's just a stereotype assumption on my part, just a guess.

But if this is the case then it could be that this is a liberal corporation preying upon the susceptibilities of conservative music lovers, that is opposed to the possibility that it is a conservative corporation preying upon the susceptibilities of conservative music lovers.

However, this leads to the question are there liberal (bad) corporations and conservative (good) corporations? And next, if this is so, how do we distinguish between the two. Is it who they donate money to in political circles.

Or could it be as simple as labeling whoever does something we don't like as being ''leftist'' .

Could it be that ALL corporations are leftist? But how can that be as all corporations are profit driven and hence, not leftist at all based on, that is, the capitalist, anti capitalist scale.

Some country singer named Aldean wrote a song about stopping violence in small towns and the left lost their minds and has banned, canceled, this guys song.

I thought free expression was something everyone supported.

Guess I was wrong.

What I find hilarious is that the left is screaming that this song is "racist" and "Pro-lynching" because the video showed actual clips of the left's rioting, looting and burning.

So they are correct, in a way.

They just don't understand that they are the ones guilty of what is being charged.

Nope....it's the lefties.
All the articles about it say that leftists from large urban areas are outraged. They're claiming the song is promoting racism, and even lynching!
They're throwing a major hissy fit.

As far as I know, most of the action was simply from fellow Country singers (and others) saying "that ain't right." One outlet (CMT) pulled the video, but it's widely available everywhere and isn't being shoved off Twitter or any other platform that I can find.

And you know, that IS freedom of speech. Businesses have the right to regulate speech, but government doesn't. So CMT can say "we don't want that here" ... but the US government isn't shutting him down.

"Freedom of Speech" doesn't mean you can say anything anywhere you like without repercussions.
