The thing these folks don't realize is that a POTUS must be free to make national security decisions without thought or fear of being prosecuted later for something the opposition didn't like, or that they can make political hay out of.

What if he hesitated in a war time scenario? Shouldn't a POTUS only concern be the safety and welfare of Americans?

For example: waterboarding. If we know the bad guy knows where the dirty nuke is and when it's set to blow, would we rather the POTUS decide it's better to dunk this chap and get him to tell us, or let Americans die? Do we want him saying, nope, no way, the other party will impeach me?

The power of the presidency is being threatened by all these shenanigans.

This comes off like Trump wants any damaging press from the trial kept silent until after 2024. I mean, it fits with everything else he has shown to care about. He hasn't figured out proper decorum for a machiavellian prince yet.

Politicians almost have a necessity to be a megalomaniac sociopath crazy person, because it makes for better leaders, and Trump is just the first (nonking or dictator) to wear the altar of self worship on the sleeve. I think it's fair to say I have soured on nearly all candidates at this point. Trump may actually be the most moderate candidate remaining because it's a battle to top his cult of personality.

Not since Reagan has a politician had and retained their personality cult. Obama had Shepard Fairey art and then about a month before he lost his personality cult.

the huge issue with this is the uks left contracted out the torture, that is the torture of its own citizens not sure the us went that far but I could be wrong and am open to nciorrection.

Of course the US has used tortue on Americans. Solitary confinement is torture, and we did that for Jan. 6 tresspassers.

If something is illegal then it's illegal. The imaginary scenarios where the Hero President has to order a suspect to be tortured to stop an attack are bullcrap. Never happened, ever. There are other and better ways of extracting information. Torture is a) cruel, b) illegal and c) doesn't work because the person being tortured can say anything - including making stuff up - to make it stop.
Torture works in bad fiction and appalling Hollywood. Not in real life.

Right now in my little neighborhood, we are overrun with people having chickens from when eggs were 10 bucks a dozen.

No problem, but they have roosters too. There is a city ordinance about roosters.... noise, they are not allowed.

So Im living between two houses that have roosters, only I'm not certain which ones. So I posted a topic about putting up a drone to find them on our neighborhood bulletin board. Well, according to a purple haired typical lib californian, Im just the worst thing in the world. She LOVES the sound of roosters and thinks I'm a Karen for wanting to figure out where they are to notify the city. My son is a longshoreman that sleeps during the day. He has a DANGEROUS job and needs his rest.

So I said, well, its the law for a reason. She argued that its a stupid law, so Im in the wrong. I said, I thought the 'rule of law' was meaningful to your affiliation. She blew her stack! She wrote nearly a two page screed about how Trump isnt the same as a rooster and I need to keep my sense of importance and roosters aren't.

I hated to watch herself make a public fool of herself.

Yeah, I dont want to hear about 'Rule of Law'. With most people, it doesn't mean a damn thing when it comes to THEIR personal preferences.
