What happened to racial equality? I thought that is what the Dems are all about, is making sure that all races are treated fairly and equally?

I can understand your dislike of the bill. Certainly I think it would of been better to enact some sort of reform. Maybe training for judges to make them aware of how minorities are treated more harshly by the courts. That way when sentencing Judges can apply similar sentencing to everyone.

No. They haven't wanted equality since the 60's. They want equity. There's a big difference in the meaning of those words in wokespeak.
Jones-Sawyer didn't respond to a request for comment to elaborate on his legislation. However, when asked about the bill, a fellow member of the Public Safety Committee told Fox News Digital that the justice system should be color blind rather than make decisions with one's race in mind.
"Our justice system is intended to focus on accountability for behavior without racial considerations," said Assembly Member Tom Lackey, a Republican. "The voice of victims and any potential repercussions for public safety should be our highest consideration when making decisions that directly impact California communities."

I think it's been proven repeatedly that minorities do not get treated the same in the courts. Usually with higher convictions and tougher sentencing. Everyone should be treated the same under the law. The reality is that they are not. It would seem that this bill is trying to rectify that.

Yep, if all these statistics were broken down and interpreted honestly I suspect that we would see that this is a class issue and not a race issue.
Data and statistics are commonly used to forward agendas.
I know plenty of coloured folks and white folks that are wealthy. I also know lots that are dirt poor.
