I don't dispute many of the points you raise, just both the short and long term effectiveness of shutting golf courses.

The things is, if the profits made by Water Companies were reinvested in the infrastructure providing drinkable tap water and efficient irrigation systems etc none of this would be an issue.

Instead there is an obsession with high dividends for shareholders and bonus's etc for Executives.
That takes priority over trivial things like fixing leaks and providing drinkable water and irrigation etc.
