So the colleges arent doing it?

No pride month there? Its the colleges doing the most damage.

Who cares?

The folks in college are adults.

Yep you are right we should make everyone pay up so they can keep doing it to the next generation.

I hadnt thought of that .

Besides they need those payments so they can send it to Ukraine.

You don't think adults should pay debts that they have accrued?

How will this play out for Democrats in the upcoming election?

Democrats are upset because they have to pay their own bills now instead of having someone else do it.

The election?

You mean Afghanistan, the open southern border, inflation, higher taxes weren't enough?

I'm not a Democrat and I'm upset at our government doing absolutely nothing about this issue. Inflation and higher taxes on top of student debt is going to push many to not vote for republicans telling you to "just work harder" "why'd you take out the loan to better yourself?"

It's not a good look and it's insulting

Inflation and higher taxes are Bidens fault.

Maybe so but student debt is personal to the voter and not doing anything about it will lead to independents either not voting or voting Democrat.

Then why have loans at all if Mother Government will take care of you?

The loans are backed by the government already letting university's raise tuition every year. The problem is the business model and if you don't have a perfect major or a strong economy you're in crippling debt.

What's the Republicans plan except "pull yourself up from you BOOTSTRAPS" BS argument. "back in my day I bought a four bedroom house as a mailman!"

What's going to happen in 5 years when another round of students made bad decisions and they need a bailout?

Depends on if you believe going to college is a "bad decision"

Punishment for a greedy college business model.

The demographic wanting free loan forgiveness is also probably a demographic who doesn't vote. Paying what you owe and voting require effort and self-responsibility. Those are qualities that this demographic lacks.

It really is. The repayment rates are as bad or worse as "military payday loans" that put so many soldiers into financial debt.

It's also a good way to put America into debt with the rest of the world. Without a large pool of college educated people in America, we'll have to import them from other countries OR we'll just have to go back to being wage slaves and behind the rest of the world in technology as innovative projects will be developed in other countries.

People used to come to the US for a good education, but if college is only affordable for the wealthy then our best and brightest will start to go abroad to cheaper schools and universities. It's a loss to us, all around.

They're MORE likely to vote - because the jobs they land (unlike manual labor) do include paid leave and paid time off and often allow enough of a break to go vote over lunch (speaking from experience.)

I agree that colleges charge vastly more than they should.

Many do, but kids these days are so super spolied that they don't even consider going to a community college or some other smaller college, or for that matter, just getting their degree online. That said, a good Trade school would in fact would likely be a much wiser choice for more than half of those who end up going to college.

I know myself, personally, unless my kids have a dream goal of becoming or doing something that absolutely requires a degree, I'll be pushing them towards trade schools - even to the point of doing thatm then if you still want a degree, get it online.

why did the lawyers let biden sign the order if they knew it was illegal?

how could they not know it was illegal?

They did. They wanted to create a fake hot-button topic before the election that would sway a large percentage of the low-IQ/info voters that want their freebies, and are unable to comprehend that their student debt is due to their own poor decisions.

In many, possibly a majority of cases, yes, I do believe that.

The cost of education should be reduced through innovation.

AI has the potential to reduce education costs by automating administrative tasks, such as grading and record-keeping. Personalized learning systems powered by AI can tailor educational content to individual students, reducing the need for costly one-on-one tutoring. Virtual classrooms and online learning platforms enabled by AI can reach students in remote areas, eliminating the need for physical infrastructure and transportation costs. However, while AI offers cost-saving benefits, initial implementation and maintenance of AI systems may require significant investments, and human educators remain crucial for providing guidance and a well-rounded educational experience.

If they had quality jobs, they wouldn't need to have their debt forgiven.
