you claim that he is being treated in a privileged way. i'm not that familiar with the legal system in the usa but i have the feeling it's pretty strict. and isn't the supreme court rather dominated by conservative judges? and isn't every verdict a public one, so anything can be reviewed by anyone? so there's no proof of special treatment, right? and why is this poor drug addict such a big topic here at ats? it's nothing new that children of famous people often have problems later in life.

Well, in the USA we have a leader, he/she is elected for a 4 year term. Currently we have a senile old dude who seems to have a problem sniffing kids and women and being a bit too touchy. His past is a bit sketchy in that it appears he used his office of VP (that's vice president) to enrich himself and his family by selling policy decisions. The world likely wouldn't have known any of this, had the current President's crackhead son not documented everything, including his drug use, on several laptops, then abandon them in a repair shop. So while much of the conversation has "Hunter" Biden in the title, it's really JOE Biden and his involvement, that would be problematic. Anything happening to Hunter is a distraction from something else.

But the crimes he has now pled guilty to, would cause an average person to have jail time. (IMHO)

No this just shows the two tiered justice system in effect. Forget trump,ANY OTHER AMERICAN would be in jail for 20 years or more if this was not a Biden. DOJ isnt Independent but this was done to give it the appeareance of it. Their ACTIONS betray their words.

It's actually pretty in keeping with standard practices. If anything, it's a little harsher. The DOJ rarely chooses to prosecute first time tax offenders or false gun applications.

I don't know if it's a two-tier justice system. I feel like that's a term the right-wing media is throwing out there a lot. It's always been a justice system that favors the rich and powerful in many cases.

Trump has a huge spotlight on him and he stupidly kept classified documents. If they didn't prosecute him, the left would be crying "two-tiered justice system".

Trump's own fault for keeping classified info knowing the entire U.S. is looking at him. The DOJ has to prosecute at that point.
