I think "Support this sponsor who supports ATS free speech." should be removed.

It's been said before, and was said just today by an admin in a post about the mudpit being removed that seems to have been removed itself now, that ATS is a private business and free speech doesn't exist here.

ETA: Post is still there, just front page links and reply links I have to it go nowhere now for some reason. Have to manually go to the mudpit to see it for some reason.

Yet right on the front page we have that line.

Support this sponsor who supports ATS free speech.

ATS is free speech, or it isn't?

Which is it? If it's a private business where free speech does not exist then that line surely needs to go.
It might mislead people into thinking they can openly express themselves.

I don't see it like that. I read it exactly like it's written.

"Support the sponsor who supports ATS free speech."

It does not say

"If you do not support the sponsor who supports ATS free speech, we don't have any."

nuances.

I think they probably just don't want this site to turn into something like reddit. Where any opinion that anyone disagrees with is ruthlessly attacked and people are bullied constantly. Name-calling. Etc. Just keep it in one area.

ATS is pay to play.

I don't think you fully understand what freedom of speech means and who and what and how that applies.

If you had actually read the T&C you wouldn't have made this thread.

This is a private entity that can do as they please.
It's not a hard concept.

Someone came in yesterday with what looked like a very promising thread.

It ended up into somewhat of a quarrel, lets say.

There is T&C's that are good and should be adhered to.

DAVID64 is correct its bleeding over into other forums and good posters won't return

Ummm...I don't agree with that at all...nope...Nada...Nyet...

My observation is that this question of non-perfect...sanitized...artificial dialogue...is just not compatible with how life in the for reals works...

My further take is that there are WAY too many snowflakes whose feels get damaged beyond reason because someone said something...somewhere...

I happen to approach life and ATS from the perspective that it at least reflect some of that for real conversation...and not some robotic answer to query...

In the for reals...when I'm conversing with friends...family...or with the general public...there's always banter...some teasing...jokes...humor...Even and especially in serious conversation...

It's like Yesterday in a thread...someone made the comment that other posters in the thread hate the Brits...that post got some star like...However...Who actually hates the British on this site...?

No one...However...banter is misconstrued as Hate...because...feelz...

That's what's corrupted the site...the irrational search for offense...where none was present...the melting snowflake syndrome that's inculcated the entirety of public discourse...

So...the answer seems to be..."see something...say something"...guard your tongue lest an offense seeker has a meltdown...guard those sacrosanct safe spaces cause lets face it...I'm going to tattle to the mods if you scratch my feels...

Personally...I thought we were all adults here...and adults do humor...don't always agree...quip and quibble...use sarcasm...and occasionally vent frustration with intransigence...


The other side of the coin is that...in case you hadn't noticed...the world...the world over...is rapidly turning into a huge pile of stinking feces...it's rapidly circling the drain and is being pulled inexorably into the event horizon...

So cut some slack...don't expect perfection where none is evident...and lighten the hell up...

Well if that post stated what your implying it was a lie and violated ATS rules and rights thus it was removed like many POSTS are for extremes or false information.

I can't imagine that ATS brings in much money from that advert. Maybe they do, who knows. The owner of ATS is probably losing money to keep it running. We should grateful that the website is still up and working.
