Kind of a lot like nuclear fusion power in that respect.

I've seen no evidence of self-replicating software that can alter itself to adapt to challenges. A bit like evolution but with code and potentially machines?

We probably have more chance at creating a biological 2nd genesis.

The future for all we know is not written. But rather be cautious and have controls in place as the dangers associated with A.I. are real could harm humanity in the future. What you have described above is not just science fiction.

Allow the software to change society I say. That's all it is for now. The radio created a lot more fear than the TV ever did going by history. What I mean by that is the affect of smart communications will probably cause so much upheaval that societies will have no choice but reflect on what's in front of us.

Which always boils down to a lack of ability to communicate. It's also why my first post in this thread was addressing the definition of 'woke' since definitions and how we apply them really do change.

Musk has Aspergers doesn't he? I imagine he has a clue about deficiencies surrounding communication yet he is the one who thinks cyborgs might be the definitive answer to all of this malarkey.

Personally I think the likes of chatGPT could revolutionise communication which is clearly a fundamental issue within societies. We don't need an AI to shake the hell out of the system. Is such software ripe for abuse? Sure but what isn't?

What is happening today with the programs that try to manipulate perception written by derailed left wing programmers. You can easily spot them online.

The honest truth? We won't have true AI until we develop the first Living or Quantum computer.

So far, we solved one part of the AI blueprint, we've mastered the concepts of classical computing. Logic scripts and cold hard code.

Mastering Quantum computers would reveal whole new computations that aren't necessarily faster, but more "dense". This would be a needed component for true AI.

Once that happens, I think we'll see something as close to a God as possible in the Real.
