Did you read? The law here says they could not keep the man beyond 24 hrs without a victim statement. Thank God they will get one, but they haven't been able to yet. In the meantime, it was judged that an 80 year old is highly unlikely to run.

As soon as they have Yarl's statement, this man will be going in.

I'm just going off of some sketchy areas in Riverside (Platte) and Excelsior Springs (Clay) that I've been in working. I'm sure they are mostly delightful places that just have some bad areas, same as everywhere.

To this I agree. However, I like to look at all aspects of something to make sure nothing is missed. If I was a cop I would ask how he got there. Also, how many 16 year olds do not have their phone. I mean, I know it happens but...then, he gets shot and if this is a decent neighborhood...no one opened a door. The story says that he went to three houses and no one called 911. Wanna bet a fin those homes will be owned by non-POC?

I would also ask about the siblings to make sure the 'story' is correct. That is all.

Like I stated, he might have a hood in the closet and if so charge him but there is something missing here.

The only way would be if he tried to tell the kid no and the kid got confrontational over it, but the Northland is pretty sane, and I don't see that kind of behavior generally. That's Jackson Co crap.

Up above, someone posted a northeastern address. While "Northland" is pretty sane, the NE areas of Kansas City proper weren't even safe to drive through 30 years ago. I know that firsthand.

No. Two very different areas. I know. I live in the Northland where this took place. It's very shocking to all of us. Honestly, I might even have known the kid or his siblings. The last name is familiar.

Northeast is an inner city neighborhood down off the urban core. I spent a few years teaching at a middle school down there, and you're right. It's a tough hood.

Good point....how often does someone survive being shot in the head by someone else? (I know it can happen, there was a famous one about a Scots Guards officer shot in the head at Mount Tumbledown) It remains though striking in it's rarity.

Blumtone22 clearly stated "form the narrative of the week" which is what all the good propagandists do, form the narrative to direct the discussion. Kind of like "Hands up, don't shoot".

Was that something important to the shooting or was it a cherry picked piece of background information meant to sway emotions?

Every news outlet on both sides are doing this. It's gotten old.

Some old guy, probably scared (I don't know) gets woken up late at night by a knock on his door.

Maybe if crime wasn't such a common god-damned thing in our country, people wouldn't be frightened.

I don't know the area, but if there are Soros DA's letting criminals go free, then what are regular folks going to do?
