Where the hell are we!?

While quite a lot of news came out of the recent D&D Summit, the idea that the tabletop role-playing game is entirely getting rid of half-races and half-species due to concerns over racism has quickly garnered a lot of attention. Try to be surprised, but it turns out that many aspects of this situation are being misconstrued by those who are either working with the wrong information or have simply chosen a certain interpretation of the right information.

The one place I can go to clear my head of all the woke, black pilled world is our DnD table.

Hey, wait a minute.....

What happens when the Orc Male Warrior identifies as a female Elf princess?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Then they are a female elf princess....with a orc ...umm...spear.

Lys is right. Warhammer is superior.

Warhammer rpg is superior. MERP is superlative. Paranoia is pluperfect.

Shadowrun, meh, sokay. (Alright it is a grand tromp through a sci-fi wonderland.)

I didn't know people still played pen and paper RPGs. Well I'm sure they did, but thought it was more of a rarity. I'm trying to picture people playing at a convention despite the fact that it would be the first and last session of the campaign.

Brings back so many good memories of my teenage years. We lived at the comic book store.

My warhammer armies were nice. Quite the painter but could never finish them. At least the rest were spray primed.

You tricked another nerd into marrying you?

Well done, nerd.

Actual real womenz? You didn't build them?

Ok, I guess I'll have to take your word for it....

My oldest son is a DnD nerd too, lmao.

We were just looking at buying him some new fancy dice with bluetooth LEDs.

How full on stupid does it have to get to start whining and crying about established DnD races?

People are just getting dam pathetic Jin...you're probably a way higher power warlock than them anywayz...

Its a disease that finds its way into everything.

To be fair, this is hardly DnDs first foray into wokenomics but this instance is way over the line....even for a high fantasy game.

Who knew that D&D of all things was going to be so problematic with its messages of racial purity? That's almost like Hitler and the Nazis. I'll be they still portray some races like orcs and goblins as evil too, and now you can't even be that redeeming half-orc ...

It certainly throws much of the established canon out the window.

Most people chose them as different stat bases at character creation as I don't know too many tables that really set a huge store on role-playing (much to my annoyance). It also annoys me that the designers chose to find the language "problematic", so they decided how everyone else had to play. In other words, I find the idea of half-breeds to be derogatory because of real world stuff, so I won't allow anyone to play the idea in a fantasy setting where you have racial hybrids between actual, you know, races, not just different skin colors of human.

Dumb, but honest question. Can't ya just play by the old rules?

Somewhere in a storage unit of my parents', there's a circa 1980s D&D rulebook. Dad and I never got into it. What would stop someone from playing by those rules 50 years from now when it's unearthed in Storage Wars 2075?

Like someone still running Windows 95, can't ya just chose not to upgrade?

Sure. Some tables still play older rule sets.

Its no big deal.
