Which is pretty much what happens. Radar can detect flocks of birds as a target. The computer filters out a lot of data as invalid because it’s too small, or moving too slowly, or a bunch of other factors. Remove the filters and now you’re looking at all that data in addition to the good data.

Yep except supposedly they have downed 2 "flocks of birds".

As mentioned elsewhere why not immediately release the cockpit video, if it is something innocuous and benign? we've seen cockpit videos all the time during other various military ventures.

or are you about to school the hell out of me?

What's so secret about an F-22 targeting and firing a sidewinder on a bogey?

As for the debris, I know it's remote and cold AF but they have been on the scene for how long? Hell just a preliminary pic, a general location, anything

The problem is that you don’t know if you’re after flicks of birds or valid targets until you put eyes on. That means aircraft in the air. If you use alert aircraft, they’re now out of position, or not available after they return, until they’re serviced and gone over. If you use other aircraft, and you verify it’s a valid target, you can take the time to arm other aircraft. That’s what it sounds like they did in Canada. They used RCAF F-18s to ID, and requested NORAD assistance to down it.

The odds of ever seeing F-22 cockpit video are remote at best. And if we do it’s going to be scrubbed hard. You can get a lot of information from a HUD video, especially when you’re talking the employment of live weapons.

They know where it is, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re on site. Alaska is not somewhere to play around. The weather changes so fast it isn’t funny. The USCG used to have a regulation in place (I assume they do still) that to be an Aircraft Commander, you had to fly a minimum of a year as a copilot before you’d even be considered for upgrade. I’ve heard some real horror stories from aircrew up there of how fast they go from good visibility, to zero. And if it’s on the ice, that will be a little more risky. They have to be sure the ice will hold before they start any operation.

Any pictures they release are going to be after they’re on site. If you look at the pictures off South Carolina, they’re all staged, so the least amount of information is included. So if we get any, they’ll be after they’re well into recovery.

So basically we screwed around with the air surveillance filters at NORAD and elsewhere and now we are jumping at shadows and balloons, (according to Schumer). With the caveat that we got 2 completely different balloon types

So will they be readjusting the filters so we aren't getting balloon notifications every day? cause sounds like we are being surveilled all the time by balloons regardless. Are you suggesting if we didn't adjust the filters they would have been able to target and follow the 2 + cylindrical bogeys?

Overall you are saying the Pentagon has got this under complete control, and the issue is the public has seen a glimpse it's not used to seeing.

Thanks for all the answers you are giving General Ryder a run for his money, though somehow I bet your skills would be needed elsewhere.

Mapping out the command chain for aerial threats?

In times of spy satelites balloons are laughable...

Exactly, which is why the balloon hysteria is laughable.

But so far, no one knows if the latter two objects shot down were balloons or something else. The whole thing has serious UFO flap vibes.

Or the Chinese are experimenting with electromagnetic propulsion systems which are housed in cylindrical shaped craft.

Normally, I would agree with others that these patents are likely just the Navy ensuring that when or if this technology does become available, the U.S. will be able to control it. However, these are not normal times. Thanks to To the Stars Academy (TTSA), the Department of Defense, and the media at large, not only are we now being told that Navy pilots have witnessed aircraft behaving exactly like the craft these patents describe, but some of the pilots’ visual descriptions of those anomalous aircraft even seem to be uncannily similar to the drawings of the aircraft as depicted in Pais’ patents.

It’s not under complete control by any means. Just like with cyberwar a lot of people missed the boat at many points along the way. People are learning that the Pentagon is so concerned with high tech they’re ignoring low tech.

They’ll develop a filter for balloons, but for awhile it’s going to be a mess.

TFR has been activated over the Lake Michigan area. That’s about where anything over Montana would be expected to be with overnight winds.

If this object is carried by overnight winds, I think we can safely rule out intergalactic alien spacecraft.

Apparently, the airspace over parts of Northern Lake Michigan have been closed for national security purposes.

www.jsonline.com...

I heard they re-opened it. But still. A lot of ????? over the past 24 hours.

So...

- Cylindrical
- "Cruising"
- No propulsion
- Object "shattered" when hit

But they failed to see the alledge tether and payload on the first go?
If they were close enough to determine there were no identifying marks or propulsion system, they were close enough to notice a tether if it was there.

In short, there was NO tether. NO payload.

COME ON PEOPLE!

Unless they were fixated on the balloon and didn’t see anything below it.

Exactly. They would have seen the obvious tether.

These are TicTacs and I get the feeling a whole lot of books are about to be rewritten

ATS/others called it on 2/4. The shootdown and ensuing hype was a cover. Jeremy Corbell said a few weeks back they were engaging them

Pilots have fixated on targets and flown into the ground, which is a hell of a lot easier to see than a tethered object hanging below a balloon. There’s absolutely no way to say they absolutely would have seen a tether hanging down.

The simplest explanation in this case, IMO, is extraterrestrial crafts

No doubt your scenario is also plausible. I just think its more likely ET crafts than highly trained fighter pilots missing obvious tethers. I could be wrong, always ready to accept that

Lets speculate...

If these arent alien, but they are intentional.
And if they did have a payload.

What if shooting them down was exactly what the delivery was about? What ever they were carrying, is now being spread out across a vast area. And over water?

Highly trained pilots are also trained not to target fixate, but they do. They’re still human, and they still make mistakes. Training can minimize those mistakes, but when your adrenaline is up, like at the thought of getting to live weapons, at a real target, mistakes are more likely.
