SpaceX should choose between Ukraine and Russia: Ukrainian official

I understand Ukraine's consternation but if a company is neutral it can do business with whomever it wants. If the masses don't agree the masses will make it financially where a company can or can not operate, In other words, Ukraine can want people, companies, and countries to pick sides but this situation is shaping up for a long-term conflict it's more complicated than that.

KYIV - Elon Musk's SpaceX should choose sides between Ukraine and Russia, a senior Ukrainian official said on Thursday, after the company said it was curbing Kyiv's use of Starlink internet devices for controlling drones.

Gwynne Shotwell, president and chief operating officer of SpaceX, said on Wednesday the Starlink service - which has provided Ukraine with broadband communications in its defence against Russian forces - was "never meant to be weaponized."

"A year of Ukrainian resistance & companies have to decide: Either they are on the side of Ukraine & the right to freedom, and don’t seek ways to do harm. Or they are on Russia's side & its 'right' to kill & seize territories," Podolyak wrote.

"SpaceX (Starlink) & Mrs. Shotwell should choose a specific option," he said.

Ukraine's military uses thousands of Starlink devices to communicate in the field. Some of the devices were provided by the company free of charge.

Despite the importance of Starlink for Kyiv, Podolyak has criticized Musk more than once since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

He has dismissed ideas put forward by Musk for "exchang(ing) foreign territories for an illusory peace," and urged him not to "pessimize" Ukrainian official accounts of the conflict.

“Information should never be weaponized “

I have to agree.

Quite a tightrope to walk.

Ukraine proposes to dictate to the whole western world. Wag the dog for sure...and if it did not suit what my best friend calls the "Axis of Weasel," then Ukraine would be ignored. Ukraine is a very corrupt proxy of the Anglo-American Empire.

On the other hand, on the other side of the world, the Chinese smile, knowing that by the end of this mess, they can simply walk into the middle east and take the oil they need so badly.

Musk has numerous military contracts.

He pulled the plug when a different Ukrainian official told him to f-off for suggesting they negotiate a peaceful resolution. Then immediately turned starlink back on when the DOD contacted him. Most likely to fit the $30,000,000 a day pricetag to keep Ukraine on line.

If you ask me personally he's helping perpetuate the suffering of Ukranians by prolonging this war by giving them Starlink to use militarily. He doesn't seem to have a conscious about Ukraine using starlink to guide America HIMARS into civilian targets in the Donbass region...

The same guy you stand behind.

It's sad we've dubbed this man the gladiator that's going to take down putin with the worlds help. But.. it's even more sad that Russia needs to steal back a country that had gained it's independence. You can't just take people's land because you think it's yours. Haven't we bitched about that enough over the last 50 years for all of the stuff that was done to ... everyone, through out time?

So now it's ok just for this little moment in time, then we can go back to that being wrong.

I get Russia don't want an army on it's doorstep but neither does the world and Russia is just that for everyone (along with Chiyeena). Be peaceful and people will treat you peaceful.

Drones, fire control or just general military comms, what's the difference? It's still used for war, that was always the purpose. I think Musk is just leveraging for more money. Which is fine, unless he's playing both sides to prolong the war needlessly by not giving full support to Ukraine.

Musk has clearly become a Russian puppet. It's no coincidence that he's cutting off the Ukrainian military's access to Starlink just as Russia is launching a massive offensive.

Musk does NOT possess a pioneering spirit, he is NOT NASA, just a puppet war profiteer and meddler, Has absolutely no business representing the taming of the final frontier. I would like to have coffee with him just to look into those inbred eyes and tell him just how little business he has in space. He is embarrassing.

Please Russians who use Starklink are getting fined in Russia, its use is frowned upon.

Pretty sure Elon got tired of hearing how much aid Ukraine was receiving, without a reasonable monthly payment plan.

You got any idea how much Uncle Sam would charge for such a service...

SpaceX is better than NASA, in every way:
- compare their numerous luch tower with the fiscal disaster of the tower for Artemis
- compare SpaceX reusable rockets with single use NASA crap
- compare SpaceX speed of innovation with total lack of innovation at NASA
- compare SpaceX pursuit of promotion by excellence vs. promotion of incompetence and diversity at NASA
- compare SpaceX timelines with NASA's
- compare SpaceX budget management with the absence of same at NASA

It's not just the thing with Starlink. That's just the most overt action he's taken. For the past few weeks Musk has been retweeting the most blatantly obvious Russian propaganda.
