Yeah, there is some metaphorical truth there besides being funny as heck. I mean, for one, I have, on imo ahem rare occasion but indubitably, caught myself and/or have been caught talking out of my ass on some minor muddy or the other.

Ummm...I spent a good while in my early years here...wallowing in the deep end of the pool...

However...as all baptisms through fire can attest...it left a burnt ocher kind of taste in my mouth...

So now...now I rarely attempt any in depth communique...I much prefer these shallows...a nich that certainly doesn't fit my mind...but seems to fill a certain void aspect...

If it wasn't for the quip and quibble...I probably would have just faded away...like any good olfactory experience...

Well, 2 Timothy 4:3,4 does predict:

“For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome* [Or “healthful; beneficial.”] teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled.* [Or “to tell them what they want to hear.”] They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories.” (2 Timothy 4:3,4)

That would suggest (predict) a low yield of stars for comments containing what the Bible presents as “beneficial teaching” (and a high yield for that which tickles peoples ears, intrigues and/or excites them, pleases them, just what they wanted to hear “according to their own desires”; people do tend to give stars to the comments they like rather than those containing teachings that “they will not put up with”, i.e. don't like, even feel an aversion to, they don't wanna hear it, read it or even think about it in a way that seriously considers its potential truthfulness and value/benefit to them). It would also suggest (predict) fewer replies for the first type of commentary (unless perhaps it's to disagree or change the point, perhaps even to the point of twisting it; let's say less replies that are in agreement with or in line with a correct understanding of the “beneficial teaching” spoken of at 2Ti 4:3,4).

Also compare the last sentence there at 2Ti 4:3,4 with The GUT's: "Many here, for some reason, don't seem to notice or engage with your replies." There's another clue there why that may sometimes be the case, or at least seem so as The GUT put it.

Of course, a clearer demonstration of what's described at 2 Tim 4:3,4 would take on more 'extreme' or pronounced forms than the way it's described by The GUT in the part I quoted at the start of this reply. Does anyone care to guess why I assume the OP isn't about me?

Oy! How to categorize a complex Peeple?! Actually, I'm glad you dropped in because you are, for me, a personal category I've noted but haven't explored in depth---I have to dig a little deeper into my own psyche for such and it can be quite a mess in there sigh.

When I say "category" I hope it's obvious that it's just a modality for discussion. Meaning I hope it's apparent to everyone that this is about people (in this case Peeple heh) and not simple labelizing. I think that's apparent but I want to make sure.

Yeah, we are certainly at the far ends on many--maybe even most--issues. But not all I've also noticed. And we've interacted outside of just "muddy" discussions.

Which to me says you take your journey seriously and allows me to take you seriously. Further, I find you exceptionally bright and I never use the word "exceptional" lightly. Even though you sometimes, nay often, drive me crazy (and vice-versa without doubt) you've also made me think deeply here & there. We all go through tough times and I know you went through one for awhile and I was sincerely impressed and sincerely glad to see you navigate and whip it's butt. That took strength you probably didn't feel like you had. I can tell it's been lasting, too, which says even more.

So, yeah, you're for real ATS family to me, Peeple. Colorful indeed lol but who doesn't like colour. Hugs.

You know the feeling is reciprocated. And I want to sincerely thank you for the freaking stellar work you are doing. I actually feel guilty that I've been in "retirement mode" and not joining in and contributing more. I'm also extremely sad that clear, heroic voices have found themselves so boxed in. How do we combat that?

Thank you so very much, too, brother. Your pen hits the jugular with a precision that's fearsome to behold. I've said before, we all owe a lot to those who speak so clearly for us. It's not easy deconstructing modern propaganda. It takes time and skill and care to lay it bare and expose its stinking innards.

Those who do and do it well truly are heroes to me. Unfortunately, these day, it's not a big list thusly making the distinction even more clear. May your camp experience be a thorn in the side of your keepers!
