A drastic shortage of funds is forcing the UN World Food Programme (WFP) to cut the food rations of more than one million people living in the western Sudanese region of Darfur, a senior WFP spokesman, Peter Smerdon, told IRIN on Wednesday.
"We are cutting by half the non-cereal part of the daily ration, starting in May," he said.

So now it's not only retreating from the UN, you guys also have to kill it? Have you asked the rest of the world what they think, or do you just not care because anyway, the U.S. is always right?

I agree that there is a need for an organization something like the UN is supposed to be. But the UN itself is beyond repair.
And what better way to get a new start than in a new home? Maybe in Europe, or the mideast, or Africa...

BRAVO I have the same theory ....the US has stepped into shoes they should not have and have put themselves high on an unsterdy pedistle and this will only serve to destroy us all , however the sad part is that we are not the only ones going to get hurt.
Quite frankly Im upset the actions of our goverment have gone unchecked and have become comteptable at the least, I think the US is due for a humility check....we are causing way to much strife for being as imoral as we are as a nation.

the treaty may have been unfair but it was still legally binding.
Also hitler himself is said to have been amazed that there was no action taken by either France or Britain over the remilitarization, and it made him in Germany, it gave him enourmous credibility and made France and Britain look like chumps.
I agree with you here but its not just the US that would have problems with it...
I believe the only viable way forward for the world is some sort of world government, in somesort of EU model. I know there are very many people that would be against something like this but i see it as the only way the earth will ever get beyond the pety bickering between nations that goes on now.
As my history teacher said "If in 50 years there is no world government, you can dance on my grave".

Yo Beeboy, Hitler didn't make France look like chumps, they did that by themselves hiding behind the "Majino(SP?) line" the one the Nazi's just blew around. As I remember some shy guy named "Churchill" was screaming bloody murder.
The UN has become a beurocracy full of gutless diplomats.

If you want to continue trying to france down , pathetically I might add, then please discontinue posting on this thread since we are trying to discuss this like adults...
Thats a bit diffrent from "the UN is and always has been evil and currupt" attitude....

Stating the facts of a truely inept and corrupt country like France isn't an attempt at a"pathetic" put down. France has been a world joke for about 200 years.
The original mission of the UN has be corrupted by intrenched beurocrats more interested in lining their own pockets than the actual mandate of the UN for world peace. Peace through strength I might add. Now the entire body has become contaminated buy the silly idealisim of the pathetic liberalism sickness.
A place to "debate" while millions die...............need I list them again?
you have voted devilwasp for the Way Above Top Secret award. You have used all of your votes for this

Didnt say that during the war of independance.
How are they pathetic?
They have fought well like any nation, they fell a few times but have always picked themselves up.
They are a good people but because they wont stand with you then you hate them....
They have been no joke I can assure you.
The original mission of the UN still exists...I have seen no world wars after WW2.
Peace through strength leads to war...or do you forget how close things got during the cold war at times?
You idea that the body is contaminated is purely opinion and biased...it holds no weight.

NO WARS after WWII?
The "french" were thrown ou of every country they tried to colonize.
Vietnam
Algeria
Oh never mind too many to list.
I can remember the french promising to help in 1776 but didn't.
Then they were going to help the confederacy, but didn't.
Ike helped out his arrogant friend in Degaul in vietnam and got the US into a horrible war.
The french are basically worthless in everyway possible.
There was only peace with germany and japan after WWII because they have not the ability to make war. Diplomatic peace is only a postponment of war.

Sorry didn't think WAR was a 'sport". Analogy denied.
Peace again..........isn't the absence of war, it's the inability to make war.

What you think or what your opinion is has no bearing on the subject at hand.
Also I dont see boxing as a sport more of a duel between two fighters, which is what war is like.
Peace again..........isn't the absence of war, it's the inability to make war.
I'm sorry but that is rather untrue.
During 1930's there was no war in europe but it could have been waged...well by one side..
