"Closed" -- This only means that the investigations were completed -- NOT that nothing was found.

Indeed, more than half were substantiated by their investigations.

Have you read the cases? Sounds like 99% disgruntled teens that didn't get their ways and tried the old "my teacher is a perv" route.

I think we have two things going on.

1. Actual peds, groomers etc
2. Entitled kids who use labels as weapons.

In the older days a kid like this would tell the teacher I can do anything I want and if you touch me you will go to jail, and it seems this is just another version of that. BUT... Schools are like a magnet for those who happen to be real. When I coached B-ball to young kids I had to take training about how peds etc preyed on the areas where they had the most control/influence over kids, and coaching was a big one, and I bet schools is actually the biggest though.

Have you ever witnessed a "train" in college? I have especially in the fraternity house. Those "wholesome" girls were all willing. You would be surprised as to how beautiful some were.

Are you an older decent looking person with some mula as in $$$. Do you have 30+ year old somethings attractive married and single women approach you? They want to get impregnated and cash you out as their husbands are financial losers.

When I read the report, I find that only 16 cases were prosecuted.

Now...before you have a cardiac event, I also read this:

These allegations are referred to the appropriate department within CPS or
the charter network.

In other words, a lot of the time it's an angry teacher swatting or grabbing an angry student who may also have been hitting them or others.

Our "If it bleeds it leads" newspapers hop on these stories. We should be seeing two stories or more about sex abuse in these schools every week and the teacher shortage (because of arresting all those teachers) should be staggering.

I do know that such abuse goes on in the schools - BUT - the report itself says that investigations were done and there's only 16 cases proven and actionable.

I wrote about this before but I will repeat and add more info, now.

I lived in Chicago for the first 35 yrs of my life. I lived in Wrigleyville, Rogers Park, Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, Humboldt Park and Wicker Park/Bucktown. Anywho, in the late 60s, early 70s, my cousin molested many of the children my aunt babysat...including my two youngest siblings. My brother told my father in the early 80s and my divorced parents made a joint visit to the home of my aunt. Her response to the allegations was; my God.

The youngest sib said the same happened to them a few years later and, we found out it also happened to a few of the friends. I was not involved in any of this, just offered support and ear. I was already choosing distance.

For years, some family tried to act like it didn't happen, others were angry, there were lots of arguments but no action was taken as far as i know. Then the kicker argument broke us in a way we couldn't recover. We were all sitting at Thanksgiving table, 1981 or 82 and my uncle, said cousin's father, tells us his brother, a teacher, was arrested for having sex w students.

Fast forward to 1985/86, I'm working at Frankie Z's Clark Bar, 435 n. Clark St - seems it's now closed - as a cocktail waitress. Fun fact: this is while the judges at the courthouse are being investigated in a sting operation that was known as operation greylord. So, I was daydreaming, looking out the window on a warm afternoon in between lunch and dinner and I saw three males in the doorway kitty corner from me...the neighborhood was gritty, a tranny burlesque bar was across the street...so the three boys were about 9, 12 and 16 or 17, maybe 18. They had no shirts, no shoes, ratty cut-offs, sharing a cigarette in the doorway - yes, all three, this the Chicago I grew up in - and i could clearly see stairs going up just behind them.

Fast forward another couple of years, i'm reading either the suntimes or the trib and i see a tiny paragraph about Monsignor Quinn, from MY parish, where i attended school at St Andrews, down the street from Cubs Park, where my cousins and many of the boys I knew, were alter boys, was arrested near Clark and Hubbard for picking up boys!

Back to my cousin, the perv/perp, several years later I find out he had worked several years at Misericordia and that he then moved on to an administrative position at the Chicago Public Schools hq. He got a degree paid for by the Jesuits...oh, I forgot to mention, he sold all of the family on the idea he would be a priest early on, like at 13, and he was considered god in the family. So much so, my grandfather gave the coin collection to him instead of my dad. This perv also changed his last name to my maiden name, my father's name. I just searched and this is his title effing today: Local School Council Relations, Family & Community Engagement Specialist at Chicago Public Schools

I can tell you many more stories about the scum of Chicago that the politicians want to cover-up w "culture." We're talking about a place where a mayor died at his desk, allegedly while getting a bj.

So, are the allegations in this report true? I'm sure there are some good teachers out there but perversion and power go hand in hand and Chicago seems to be quite the political power. Personally, I'd like to see Mrs O'Leary w 9/11 type explosives do a number there.

Sexual abuse of children in public schools is orders of magnitude more common than in church settings. It's not even close.

All should be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.

Sure, there's going to be some cases that are teenagers trying to get over on someone, but that's what investigations are for.

This case took place in Virginia. Not quite the same atmosphere as Chicago. Though poor inner city areas do have a lot in common.

Some of what is called abuse today, was regular daily classroom discipline during the time I was in school.

I am not defending a teacher putting their hands on a child. But I don't think that is going to be much of a problem in the near future.

Many good teachers that have dedicated their lives to teaching the children of the poor and under served, are throwing in the towel.

I hate to think about what they plan to put in place, when the parents of their precious innocent children, will have to either go without teachers, while they are educated through ChatGPT classrooms, with just supervision remotely by camera, or at home under the care of their concerned parents.

They do not pay enough for me to be a teacher. And I would also demand hazardous duty pay.

This is what we are creating. This is our future.
It is happening everywhere. My neighbors kid, is kicked out of school at least once a month for his potty mouth, lack of respect, or due to sheer defiance. And I live in the pure backwoods.

I can' help but feel that if my parents had been committed to raising a family, my siblings would not have been abused. Divorce and new relationships put them on a bad trajectory - looks selfish to me.
