There is definitely a pattern in the satellite re-entry cases which Jim Oberg has been publishing about (see link above). One pattern is a significant percentage of witnesses "connecting the dots" of lights in the sky, thinking they are all connected to one giant object (even when they are not). This seems highly relevant to the Phoenix lights case as it appears to be what happened in this case also even though the lights were on individual planes (as confirmed by not only Mitch Stanley, but also by Terry Proctor's video).

Here's an overall report with links to more examples.

Witness Reactions to Fireball Swarms from Satellite Reentries.

.... They seemed to fly over them, and when they did, they blocked out the stars in the sky as they passed, suggesting possibly a solid object. ....n. They all agreed that whatever it was, it looked pretty damned BIG. Not like 747 big, but a couple times the size. ,,,

Thanks for sharing. I know it seems to defy common sense, and it really did surprise me, but that's the precise description MANY witnesses to fireball swarms from satellite reentries also have given [including a solid object blocking out background stars]. Phoenix was =NOT= a satellite reentry, but there are other causes of a swarm of bright lights in the night sky.

Well, if they're going to open up that old 1945 case, why not open up this case from 1990
They should have records of this event if they claim its military flairs at work.

An event clearly more investigative-ly possible than an old 45 case about children's seeing little aliens looking like Praying Mantises.

That’s a valid line of investigation where we have the government on record debunking cases.

There's confirmation in a June 1997 issue of USA Today, from Lt. Col. Mike Hauser of Luke AFB that F-16s (not F-15s as claimed by Peter Davenport) were in the air that night. Without any further explanation as to why they were up there. It also confirms the truck driver's story of seeing the jets head towards two strange orbs.

Source : USA Today 18th June 1997

So that's A-10s, flare drops and F-16s all in the air on the same night.

I won't discount it. Certainly my cousins didn't know what it was, but their two biggest theories are pretty much the standard ones. E.Ts or military test of some kind. Both of them told me they leaned towards some military thing. Both believe in E.T.s visiting earth, but said that this whole thing while weird, didn't feel REALLY WEIRD, like alien weird. In their view of the topic, if it was aliens, you'd have weird beams and crazy things happening. This was just something that appeared to be REALLY BIG that flew over the valley. But other than that, no other weirdness. No disruption of electrical devices, or cars stalling, at least from their experiences.

Were they in the air chasing the UFO, is one question?

So let me get this straight…..not only do we have light formations at 10pmish and at 8pmish….we now have two orbs with red lights in the center?

A 3rd sighting?

According to the reports of a truck driver, Bill Greiner. There were 3 F-16s chasing two orbs "like toy tops or hot-air balloons, glowing from within".

So from his point of view they were. The AIr Force did not confirm anything more than they were in the air.

Most reports (before the flares) were of a V shaped formation/object. There were very few sightings reported as orbs. But news media tended to focus on only one or two witnesses. Bill Greiner's story of seeing orbs being one of them. There's also some doubt as to when exactly he saw them.

Just showing where technology in the private sector is going as far as “V” shaped craft…

Source dated 2015….. Facebook's drone prototype has wingspan greater than a Boeing 737

Take something like this…..add lights underneath, fly at high altitudes, enough not to hear the electric motors and at dusk and night…..and boom…from the ground looking up, you’ve witnessed a “V” shaped UFO silently moving across the sky.

With drones/UAV’s development progressing……more and more non-conventional aircraft shapes are coming on line and operational. Not every Joe Blow knows everything about drones and all the shapes they can take.

Another aspect to this is seeing this in the sky, and just desensitized to it enough to saying to yourself “so what, it’s probably a drone” and go about the rest of the day unsurprised.

Was that you?

How funny!

Isn't that some sort of plagiarism (that's my big word for the day)?

We all know that nothing is sacred on the WWW.

We’ve already mentioned how anything on ATS is fodder for others to take advantage of.

One can only grin and bare it when something like, text, ideas, theories, hypothesis’, research, images, videos, references are swiped from the threads of ATS.

It will continue to happen….there are no safeguards other than not to post…..it’s the nature of the Beast.

One might take it as the sincerest form of flattery, or one might take it as those thieving Bastards.

It only sucks worst when you don’t know if they monetize yours and others efforts.

Welcome to the Open Source forums of ATS

Frankly, I never felt the Phenoik Lights flap was that UFOish. I respect the witnesses, but not that silly governor. But I was never a lights in the sky enthusiast regarding ufos. However, it is a major ufo flap but, again, another mystery tale surrounding ufos.

That’s a pattern in ufology we can note, that it’s to quote Churchill: “A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.”

Parenthetically, though, Churchill was referring to the Soviet Union, not ufos.

I’ll add to Winston's aphorism…enigma in the sky, the seas, the underground, and our minds.

As if something in the universe is pushing mystery…mystery upon mystery.

Brooklyn Paranormal Society?

Hey, a little mini synchronicity here.
A little one, real tiny...in that, I coincidentally oped The Brooklyn Bridge UFO:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Come on, guys, make a comment on that crazy flap.

Let's don't be snobby and only discuss the Sirius cases...Oh..oh did I say, Sirius?

serious

BTW, he better not plagiarize my op, I'll sue the SOB...

Siriusly or seriously. Mr. MM is a UFO scholar of immense originality, knowledge, and honesty. He leans a certain way, maybe the opposite of a Dolan, who often tries to be objective and not a confirmation-biased believer, which he is.

So, it’s no surprise the claim here MM’s thread was copied. I’m not sure if that is the case. I would have to reread the OP.
This Phoenix Lights information is generic, so maybe the guy didn’t do a cut-and-paste job. I hope not.

When we borrow, we should always give the proper credit to the source.

Me?

LOL, NO! I have no affiliation with Brooklyn Paranormal Society.

There is no copyright law when it comes to UFO cases. So if someone rephrases the text and re-orders how it is presented, then a claim of plagiarism doesn't really apply. But the blogger obviously lifted a lot of ingredients included in this thread. Even encompassing CB's story of Richard Curtis and "...the tape that got away". Which I didn't mention in the OP.

But you have to laugh where it says "Made possible by your donations".

Uncovering the Truth Behind the Phoenix Lights
A poor summary since it left out two very important points you mentioned:
-Mitch Stanley seeing the lights through a telescope, and a description of what he saw.
-Terry Proctor's video which shows the lights are not all connected to one giant object as quite a number of witnesses misperceived.

Omission of those two points is a huge failure in my opinion because they are critical to understanding this case, as is understanding how common the misperception of perceiving lights in formation as connected is, even when they are not connected. Even the illusion of blocking out the stars is common, despite many people claiming that proves it was a large object...it doesn't because that illusion of blocking out the stars is rather frequent with disconnected lights which do not actually block out stars.

This whole Phoenix episode sounds like a group of amber orange type ufo orbs in flight formation rather than a solid ship. By concentrating on the orbs any gaps will be ignored and give the impression of a solid craft.
