Well at least someone is showing some common sense in this war and its Putin, they should negociate a peace treaty and go from there. I just hope that the US will allow its puppet Zelensky to actually do this, lets see now if Zelensky actually cares about his people or if he actually just wants more war.

I doubt Zelenshy wants more war but he has no choice. He is caught between a rock and a hard place. The US is loving this of course. It's the American way after all.
They have secured the energy market to some extent, weakened Russia and shifted tons of weapons. It's all good for the money men and war hawks.

Excellent.

Then all Putin needs to do is withdraw and that will show those darn Yankees who's boss.

What is it that they could actually do with it that wouldn’t put Russia in the history books as a long forgotten civilization?

Zapping them afterwards doesn't mean anything..Those things might be on both coasts as we speak..so what? Their hypersonic are nothing to sneeze at either….My dad always told me when someone threatens You that You should believe them and not wait…its not always easy to pull that gumption, but sometimes You gotta surprise a bad situation..

None?

Thats what I though.

Ok, how many putin despisers have shipped out?

Also none?

Also what I thought.

The virtue signaling is laughable.

In order to have an opinion we need to ship out or else virtue signaling? Wtf.

That’s asinine.

If that was true all he would have to do is tell his piss-poor invasion force to pick up stix, turn around, and go back home, problem solved.

Never happen all the same, because the man is full of s#@t.

Kind of the U.S.'s fault? The U.S. began to push for NATO expansion during the late 1990s, and their own policymakers warned that if they did this then Ukraine would be manipulated through regime change and Russia would react aggressively. Guess what happened.

This is Europe's fault. Head in the sand, made policy based on a fantasy instead of the way the world really is, and they got this.

After this is over they will just go back to that and expect America to defend them again. It's about time we start refusing. If they want to make policy like naive children, let them, but we don't have to save them from the consequences every time. That's not how children learn.

ETA: I totally misread this post. I need to stop coming here when I'm half-asleep.

If nothing else I'm am impressed with our intelligence community so far they have seemed to be pretty spot on

Have they? At the start of the war our intelligence said Kyiv would fall in a matter of weeks. That's a pretty serious intel blunder.

Then the narrative shifted to that didn't happen because Russia's military was so inept.

And we didn't know that? Our estimates of their effectiveness were that far off? That's an even bigger intel blunder.

Either way it looks like our intel community screwed the pooch on this one. Maybe they should stop being so focused on domestic politics and do their #ing job.

Most times when there is a war there are negotiations that end the conflict is there not? Vietnam we had negotiations for years till the final pullout, same with Afghanistan. Thus the sooner they enter a negotiation period the sooner they may end this.

Hell, it may be as simple as listening to Putin's bitching and moaning some more, FAWK, and thats the point no one knows even Kirby doesn't know.

I'm amazed at how many here just accept the US involvement as needed and necessary, it's America World police on steroids. Wasn't this the excuse we were supposed to butt out of Iraq. Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, etc. instead here we are basically financing 60% of the war at the minimum, arming Ukraine with weapons they have to be trained to use. all the while these massive amount of arms are already hitting the black market.

Even the war pigs at CNN admit it

What happens to weapons sent to Ukraine? The US doesn’t really know

The US has few ways to track the substantial supply of anti-tank, anti-aircraft and other weaponry it has sent across the border into Ukraine, sources tell CNN, a blind spot that’s due in large part to the lack of US boots on the ground in the country – and the easy portability of many of the smaller systems now pouring across the border.

It’s a conscious risk the Biden administration is willing to take.

In the short term, the US sees the transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of equipment to be vital to the Ukrainians’ ability to hold off Moscow’s invasion. A senior defense official said Tuesday that it is “certainly the largest recent supply to a partner country in a conflict.” But the risk, both current US officials and defense analysts say, is that in the long term, some of those weapons may wind up in the hands of other militaries and militias that the US did not intend to arm.

“We have fidelity for a short time, but when it enters the fog of war, we have almost zero,” said one source briefed on US intelligence. “It drops into a big black hole, and you have almost no sense of it at all after a short period of time.”

In making the decision to send billions of dollars of weapons and equipment into Ukraine, the Biden administration factored in the risk that some of the shipments may ultimately end up in unexpected places, a defense official said.

For those that don't know a Patriot battery takes 90 trained soldiers, sending one Patriot battery is literally the US slowly sticking its tip in.

or at least that is how certain Russians look at the situation, it's an obvious reaction, whether it's warranted or not.

Just the proliferation of small arms alone ought to destabilize the region for the next decade.

you know i can think of one recent president that was working on doing just that, even went as far stopping some funding for the UN and talking about getting out of NATO.

but the money dogs all started howling. and the most recent and current president undid everything he did and the money hounds started barking with delight and welcomed the U.S. back to the club.

It's more than just America helping through putnam6.

Loads of NATO nations and others from around the globe contribute to Ukraine's military requirements and other needs.

And are attempting to help them repel the Russian invaders to back from whence they came.

It's a team effort.

If I was Zelenskyy I would not wish to negotiate until Putin takes all of his forces back home, period.

End of the day the big winner in all this mess will be the military-industrial complex, arms manufacturers and energy companies but that doesn't mean Russia does not need to be defeated good and proper.

They will reap what they sow.

As to the Patriot batteries, sounds like a token gesture of sorts at least too begin with, need to see how effective they turn out to be I suppose given the limited training the people using them will have received.

Putin wants to end it?

Let’s just entertain that BS statement for a minute… which would inevitably lead us to the question of why he started it in the first place?

Not like they’ve gained anything from it… in fact, all they’ve done is lose from it.

Truth be told though, it is kind of the US’s fault this war is costing them so much.

Russia deployed there army to the Ukrainian border and claimed it was just a military exorcise and that they had no intention of invading… which in hindsight was just like a starving feral dog testing the waters seeing if it was safe to go in and collect the scraps.

The US should of put boots on the ground in Ukraine the second that happened and warned Russia to not cross the border… if they had of done that, then this meaningless BS war never would have started in the first place.

I see you came to this thread to show your ignorance as well...merry christmas. Now ask yourself, why did Russia go into Ukraine in the first place? Think long and hard about it and maybe even do some research. There is history here and not just between Ukraine and Russia....

Why do you believe everything Kiev says?
And by extension everything the American MIC says?

It's not like you don't know they have lied to you about every other conflict on the planet. Or do you NOT know?

Hmmmm

“The Patriots scared the Hell out of us,” one F-16 pilot remarked. As Army missiles downed two allied warplanes, killing three crewmen, fliers did their best to avoid the trigger-happy Patriot batteries—and in one case an Air Force pilot actually fired on a Patriot crew.

It may be a team effort, but the US has contributed exponentially more to the effort. There was a chart posted of how much has been spent, which illustrates it nicely.

Europe contributed very little although they benefit enormously from the US presence there.

Disgusting.

We should close our bases overseas and let Europe cope on their own.

The best thing Putin can do right now is to save Crimea and just say "my bad" and pull all the way out. Russia can make up a 100 BS reasons why they actually won, or accomplished their mission, but the longer this goes on the better chance Ukraine takes back Crimea, and the better chance the Russian people just get really tired of it and Putin's own leadership goes against him, and in Russia that doesn't mean to retire to some estate in the country either...lol

The reality is the longer this goes on Russia's only move is to takeout Putin and then tell the world he was mad and they are better now. I see Putin being the biggest fall guy in history...

This is about Russian war against Ukraine and not about other past conflicts.

I believe it's true when Kiev says Russians attacking Ukraine, terrorizing them by firing over 1000 cruise missiles against Ukrainian infrastructure , and i believe Russians torture Ukrainians , killing civilians as method of war , bombing down civilian areas.

It's really awful that there is people here in ATS who defend openly fascist terror Month after Month, supporting Russian terrorism.

You people are much worse than any woke ,lefties people are, because you cheer not only Russian terrorism here, but also most disgusting human Vladimir Putin here also , a mass murderer .
