Not that free if you want the likes of an abortion all the same or even wish to walk around outside barefoot.

Why can't one have an abortion at need , or walk around barefoot ?
Can't answer that , can you ?

Yeeh i hear you. But what about Rishi Sunak, if i am not mistaken...he is pressured by the climate cult , or what ever to call them , evil people.

What are Friends for? Did this cabal of mega-rich climate zealots sway Sunak?

First , you say this feel good statement :

nor in any way have their freedom curtailed

Then produce this self - contradiction :

other than with regards driving within the city centre.

Which is it ?
Freedom or not ?

Well if I lived in Oxford it wouldn't affect me at all

Maybe they want to drive employers from their towns. It's hard to believe that lockdowns were for the reasons that were stated.

True, i was not totally correct in OP . It`s not total punishment .

Thought dont they allways start with smaller, and then continue with much bigger ( insane ) rules ? Like there was the famous 2 Weeks to flatten the curve.....then it was just months .

It's the law springs to mind abortion wise unless you have a life-threatening medical emergency.

As to the walking around barefoot part.

Apparently you can apply for a permit, but it will cost you.

Hence its not free.

Good for Texans

Hang on, I'd need a permit to walk around barefoot in Texas???!!!
Now THAT is tyranny!

Next they'll be issuing state approved footwear only. It's a slippery slope ....

canterbury is also in on the list of demented councils.

Canterbury residents react to 'bonkers' traffic zone plan

Council bosses have come in for a deluge of criticism since revealing their vision to ease congestion, which would see motorists fined for driving between new so-called 'neighbourhoods'.

the issue i have is where local gov starts to make it a punishable offense to travel between areas of your own town..

Suppose just about everywhere around the globe has some daft weird laws that are somewhat unenforceable or considered to be arcane in this day of age.

which seems to happen when laws are devolved to local towns or where they are left in place by national govs..

if mine had those power 12 year olds would be drunk/stoned in the pubs, as they wanted to make it legal to drink/smoke cannabis.. they believe dthat adults would teach the teens and pre teens how to safely get drunk and stoned rather than roaming the local parks learning for themselves.. no one seems to have pondered if drunk adults where the best source for this kind of teaching..

granted I was out drinking/clubbing from 14/15 but i was certainly wary of grownups

Is it not more to do with cars through as opposed to people?

They are trying to retard short unnecessary journeys that could be made on foot by my guess.

Been guilty myself of jumping in the car to go less than half a mile to the shops many a time in the past just down to convenience when i should know better.

it seems the irony of Canterbury like oxford is hat student towns will learn the same lessons we did the hard way..

a local band (the levellers) focused on my town in their song "forgotten towns" from the last time.. someone will be doing the same for oxford, Cambridge and all the others that join them..

Same myself nickyw.

Strange thing is, and i know i may simply be the lucky or the exception to the rule here, but both my children dont have any real interest in drink/drugs or pubs, ones 10 and the other just turned 16, nor in doing anything really that's considered illegal or along similar lines to what we got up to when i was a lad.

As to roaming the local parks learning for ourselves, sound as a pound in our days gone by, but in this day of age, the thing's they are apt to discover are deviants and junkies.

If they were after pollution, carbon , they should call president Xi , Chinese are the real culprit, World super mega polluter . This fine tuning with city zones etc are to me pointless . We just wait for hydrogen powered cars to come and save .

Exactly. It's basically to reduce town centre congestion by discouraging people from driving a mile across town when they could walk, cycle or use the bus.

The Chinese aren't responsible for the pollution in our towns and cities though. This isn't just about CO2

Funny this is exactly what David icke talked about years ago. About how we will be divided into zones.. over the generations you will lose your idenfity and just be zone 1 or zone 2. Rather than you live in leeds or glasgow.

Considering the UK has a camer on every corner. It is easy to monitor.

Seem to me Kenzo what they are after is a noise up.

The short journeys by car all the same we should all endeavor to make on the hoof if at all possible simply given the price of fuel never mind the fact that the exercise cant hurt.

Telling people where they can and cannot go all the same is apt to end in tears.

Then again try walking into any gated community without proper permission or reason to be there and it tends to end badly or with a call to police.
