I don't support any of them per-say nickyw and i think your comparison to be somewhat off the mark with your East India Companies conquest of India rhetoric.

I dont even like Apple, my kids would disagree all the same.

Fact of the matter is through companies are free to choose which platforms they deem fit to promote or do business with same as nations or the EU.

Works both ways hence the changes Musk has implemented, but if i was Apple i would not wish to see advertisements that generate revenue posted next to racist or antisemitic tweets.

Im not quite sure how we got on to the weather or trans folk in England, and as far as im aware nobody has the right to bare arms here in the UK, at least not in the same to similar manner they do across the pond.

As to corporations spreading poison, you wont get much of an argument out out of me on that score, and some of the things they perpetrate and get away with are indeed despicable, same as the amount of tax most pay.

Hard pushed to exist in a modern world without them through.

Well it was indeed rather a great game for its time "Deus-ex".

As to talking about it, that is indeed the intended purpose of Twitter posts i suppose.

Guns sitting on bedside tables all the same replicas or otherwise dont send a very nice message imho.

Anyhoo need to stop talking about it for a spell, going into town to do some Christmas shopping.

Have fun.

Asmodeus3 Twitters moderation system is in tatters down to the fact that Musk has laid-off about 7,500 employees or thereabouts.

These places need to be moderated appropriately for some very obvious reasons.

As to real blows so far that seems to be to Elon Musk's bank account.

I don't know if you caught this about the Twitter layoffs...

Layoffs Have Gutted Twitter’s Child Safety Team
Just one person remains to enforce the company’s ban on child sexual abuse content across Japan and the Asia Pacific region.

The importance of in-house child safety experts cannot be understated, researchers say. Based in Twitter’s Asian headquarters in Singapore, the team enforces the company’s ban on child sex abuse material (CSAM) in the Asia Pacific region. Right now, that team has just one full-time employee. The Asia Pacific region is home to around 4.3 billion people, about 60 percent of the world’s population.

because there is virtually no difference between the east India companies and the modern corporates, you can't live without either controlling you life in some way and selling the produce of slavery

I should have worded it better Andy and been less accusatory, having worked with such corporates for over 3 decades its hard not to have a strong view on them as less the innocent entities..

ATS is not Twitter or anything reminiscing such.

Both are social media platforms where users post messages back and forth on different topics.

if the place is deemed toxic or racist

A few years back, some people deemed the solar eclipse "racist."

You just lost all credibility by bringing up that fiasco.

Thats ok nickyw i don't imagine our feelings towards corporations to be that divergent.

They exist to line the pockets of the shareholders after all but nonetheless a necessary evil in todays world.

Thats Kanye West been kicked off Twitter for displaying stars of David with Nazi Swastika motifs so there is apparently some moderation in place Musk's comment on the matter being "he done his best".

After all the feeling is rather mutual on that score.

Both sites cater to a different type of crowd and again there is somewhat of a discrepancy where user numbers and traffic is concerned which i already pointed out.

So aside from them both being social media platforms they are not exactly the same and require different types of moderation.

Plain as day really to most people that ATS is a different kettle of fish comparatively where Twitter is concerned.

Choose to believe as you wish all the same as its all one to me.

Apple and the EU are not arbiters of truth and what 'good' or 'bad' content is won't be decided by either of them.

Apple and the EU are free to choose whichever media platforms they see fit.

It's like me arguing that my uncle Jamal doesn't approve of the current change in leadership on Twitter.....

No its not.

EU is just a laughable example by the way. Who the hell is the EU??!!

The EU is a "supranational political and economic union" comprising 27 member states.

As to what's laughable well the mess Elon has made of Twitter thus far never mind what he paid for the site springs to mind.

Apple and the EU cannot dictate to Twitter how they will conduct themselves and what sort of moderation policies they will use and how many moderators they the platform will employ.

I know it's bad new for all the radical left wing lunatics, the transgender ideologists, and the climate change catastrophists, but twitter will no longer be governed by those individuals.

The Twitter is not in any mess. This is a strawman argument.

Racist and anti-semitic views are just euphemisms for further censoring and silencing criticisms and opposition. Anyone can be called a racist and an antisemite in our days. The radical left wing lunatics are using these allegations frequently If they want to divert from the issues and have no other means of censoring free speech.

If the Solar Eclipse is racist then nothing prevents white light from being racist and hence the phrase 'white light' must be used with care given the number of racists who use it.

In addition a platform cannot be transphobic according to the same principles and hence your children or everyone else's children cannot be exposed to transphobic views. How dare twitter let people argue that a man can never become a woman and a woman can never become a man. How transphobic!

Spot on!

White light is also racist.

And anyone who argues that biological sex cannot change is definitely a transphobe and perhaps a racist too.

Apple and the EU cannot dictate to Twitter how they will conduct themselves and what sort of moderation policies they will use and how many moderators they the platform will employ.

They can however choose to remove the platform from the app store and the EU can ban Twitter same way Russia did Facebook and a few other social networks.

I know it's bad new for all the radical left wing lunatics, the transgender ideologists, and the climate change catastrophists, but twitter will no longer be governed by those individuals.

Suppose they did just ban that nut in a black hood for his antics aka star of David with Swastikas in the middle.

The Twitter is not in any mess. This is a strawman argument.

Even Musk has his concerns Asmodeus3 that's a fact not a "strawman argument".

You mean that the EU is actively trying to suppress free speech? Sure, good idea.

I wonder if they'll start burning books next?

By considering the removal of a platform who's moderation team Musk has trashed and near enough destroyed.

Thats not suppressing free speech far as i can establish, same as Apple possibly removing their adds bercause they dont wish them to appear next to racist or antisemitic nonsense don't constitute a breach of free speech nether.

I wonder if they'll start burning books next?

Naw burning books is a bad idea, same as allowing lunatics a soap box to climb atop without the proper moderation is a bad idea.
