The tanks will be more expensive, the engines will be more complex... The trucks will likely be heavier to carry the same load capacity of fuel, and will need to have large high pressure tanks on board requiring frequent inspection.


engines currently in production have been modified to use natural gas and brown's gas relative easily
the tank to store hydrogen will need to be pretty strong

The strength of the tank really isn't the issue. Hydrogen is considered to be a "slippery molecule". It will actually "leak" through the gaps in the molecules of the material the tank is made from. That's why it's usually stored as a liquid.
