This is nothing new. I'm middle aged and I heard these arguments since grade school. Interesting, though, is the process which people adopt insects as food is the same I've used to expand my limited diet. I used to be an incredibly, hyper picky eater. I slowly expanded out by drowning new foods in foods I like, or chopping it up so small I couldn't see it or feel the texture. Now I've grown to have such a broad diet that I find most others picky. I'll give insects a shot. Why the hell not?

Japan seems pretty healthy. You can buy them in vending machines there for a snack. I had fried grasshoppers at a Korean friend's house years ago. Wasn't terrible.

I doubt I'll ever go out of my way to add bugs to a meal, but I don't see the big deal about it being introduced to the western world. Nobody is going to force you to eat them.

In a survival situation , an old tree stump can be the source for enough nutrition to get one through .

mealworms make good food for chickens which lay eggs and I eat the eggs. That is how I want my mealworms prepared.

Funny. I feel the same way about grass. Grass is excellent food for cows and sheep. They eat it, and I eat them. It's a great cycle because I'll die and become food for grass.

Let's get everyone living on the same Standart like the little minority of the west and be over with it already, what do you think might there be an issue with ressources?
But oh no I deserve better chances than most and certainly I don't want justice, if that means I'll get less, i only want justice if I get more.

Just leave me alone in my golden cage... Spoiled kid never knew hunger...

And whose going to pay for it all?

My country has an established farming infrastructure, if anyone wants us to eat bugs then they're going to need to pay for the bug farms as we sure aren't.

I would argue that "ewww bugs are gross" is more narrative than "bugs might be a viable substitute" because one assessment is based in science (see above) and the other, not so much.

Well, your argument is not so much science as it is pseudo-science...

It's interesting that nobody mentions the fact that insects are considered kosher in the Bible and were provided for people to eat.

That is just proof that the nutritional recommendations in the Bible are totally bogus.

Others would argue is that the same god damn science that says the weather is out to git people, and biology is a matter of choice rather than millions of years of evolution, and pushes a more destructive means of mining for green energy storage?

I'm a lifelong vegetarian so won't eat the bugs. But I see nothing overly objectionable about it.

What I hate is the 21st century global aristocracy.

"Air travel is bad for the planet, travel less!" They scream, while jetting around on private planes. "clothes industry is too expensive, also bad for the planet, buy less clothes" They say, while wearing tailor made suits. "Meat industry is bad for the planet, eat bugs" they tell, while eating the finest steaks prepared by their university-educated chefs. "Cars are bad. Don't use them" while being driven around in custom-made armoured limos. "

Literal parasites who care only for their own ego and luxury. I sincerely hope they come to the same or indeed worse fate than the French and Russian aristocracies of the 18th and 20th centuries. Their hypocrisy and contempt for those under them goes well beyond that which was held by the Nobles of Versailles or Barons of Petrograd.

None of it is about the planet. They just want to ensure their own luxury while getting everyone to accept their declining living standards which is fuelled exclusively by their greed and avarice.

Robespierre and Lenin had the right idea on how to deal with this "people". Happy to flaunt their luxury while everyone else toils in squalor for their benefit. Nothing would be lost from their absence from the world.

" A parasitological evaluation of edible insects and their role in the transmission of parasitic diseases to humans and animals "

" During the research in individual farms, we observed unethical practices of individual breeders, such as feeding insects with animal feces from a pet shop, feeding insects with corpses of smaller animals, or feeding insects with moldy food and even raw meat. These practices significantly reduce the quality of the final product and undermine the microbiological / parasitological safety of such food. Currently, however, there are no regulations regarding zoohygienic conditions and the welfare of these animals as potential animals for food."

In light of your post, I can't help but wonder if the industrial players are crafting regulations for their lobbyists to have made official by whichever prostitute-political appointee has the position at the FDA.

Or maybe that's already happened.

Allegedly, roughly 30% of society already eats bugs as a frequent staple in their diet. It's not even "exotic" it's just traditionally and economically relevant to their lifestyle.

This.

So many cultures around the world consume insects as a normal part of their diet. Our ancestors ate a lot of bugs like grasshoppers. Hell, even in this country we eat bugs (chocolate covered ants, anyone?)

Bugs are very nutritious, are much easier to farm, and can be produced in higher quantity than regular meat. The biggest challenge is getting past the ick factor for many.
