When I heard that Mrs. Pelosi has stepped down...my first thought was...with the murder attempt on her husband...well he is more important, she loves him and wants to be hear him frequently.

Hakeem Jeffries’ presumable succession is notable, because Democrats and the establishment have continually labeled some Republican politicians as election deniers.

The same standard does not appear to be applied to Jeffries.

Jeffries has denied the outcomes of the 2016 election.

In 2020, Jeffries tweeted that President Donald Trump “will never” be accepted “as a legitimate President.”

“Keep pouting. History will never accept you as a legitimate President,” he tweeted at Trump.

Also note the date. It was not until Donald Trump had been President for 3 years, before Hakeem tweeted that Trump was not a legitimate President.

Her stepping down means nothing other than a rat leaving the sinking boat. She only steps down because the people voted the democrats out of the house. She would have been speaker until her last breath.

She's not stepping down, she was fired by the people and now she bails. That's what she is doing. To save face.

Term limits is just a bad idea all around. Lame ducks passing laws is about as dangerous to freedom as it can get. They have nothing to lose by dancing to the strings that their handlers are pulling, no matter what their constituents want.

Besides, the people who would have to vote for term limits certainly aren't going to do that to themselves.

And would it even matter at all with the broken election system? If you can't vote representatives into office that the majority of the people really want, what difference does it make how long they are in office? The next one filling the slot will be just as bad. Likely even worse, because you have no say in the matter. This country is done if the elections aren't fixed. If these representatives have nothing to fear concerning re-election, then they are free to do whatever they want, and not a damn thing anyone can do about it at the ballot box.

Pelosi would have been done a long time ago if the elections she ran in weren't fixed. And that goes for a LOT of people still in office. For instance, who the heck would vote for that sleaze ball Chuck Schumer? He looks like a caricature of a sitcom used car salesman. IMHO.

She was fired. "Stepping down" is the nice way of saying it.

One of the problems in US politics is the fact that geriatrics are running the show. Old people have a lot to offer, but sometimes new blood is needed. These extended-life politicians prevent generational evolution of politics. Nancy Pelosi is 82. She should have retired two decades ago.

At least her chosen successor - Hakeem Jeffries - is just past 50.
